But they are. The courts even overturned constitutional amendments voted on BY the people because they disagreed with them.

So yes they do presume to do so and WE have yet to form a coherent response, either philosophically or physically.

We better act real soon. OR we will not be able to act at all.

Legally, of course.

I think the point is that God is the one who ordained the institution of marriage. Whether or not we recognize Him is only relevant to us individually.

My faith has always been too weak. So I feel the need to base arguments on earthly reasons too. Please take no offense. Beautiful passage btw. I used to love reading Psalms when I was young.

"Whether or not we recognize Him is only relevant to us individually."

and only for a short time. Eventually, it will become very, very relevant to everyone.

The states always have the 10th Ammendment to fall back on and as we go forward into more and more unraveling of the Republic they will start to do so again.

Very True. I see this gay marriage thing as just one more attempt to make faith irrelevant in our social structure. I can’t think of anything more destructive to any society than that.

Sometimes Huck gets it right.

Yes, he does! :) Here he is on pro-life:

GOV. HUCKABEE: It's always the, the point of trying to say, "Are you going to criminalize it?" That's not the issue.

MR. RUSSERT: Well, if it, if it's illegal, it would be.

GOV. HUCKABEE: It would be. And I think you don't punish the woman, first of all, because it's not about--I consider her a victim, not a, not a criminal. You would...

MR. RUSSERT: But you would punish the doctor.

GOV. HUCKABEE: I think if a doctor knowingly took the life of an unborn child for money, and that's why he was doing it, yeah, I think you would, you would find some way to sanction that doctor. I don't know that you'd put him in prison, but there's something to me untoward about a person who has committed himself to healing people and to making people alive who would take money to take an innocent life and to make that life dead. There's something that just doesn't ring true about the purpose of medical practice when the first rule of the Hippocratic Oath is "First, do no harm." Well, if you take the life and suction out the pieces of an unborn child for no reason than its inconvenience to the mother, I don't think you've lived up to your Hippocratic Oath of doing no harm.

-Tim Russert interview of Mike Huckabee 12-30-07

They do have the 10th but they are usually stymied by the 14th Amendment or by the commerce clause which guts the 10th....according to courts. And everyone say we must follow the law.

There are too many federal dollars at stake which I would encourage my state to simply forego...but too many will not.

Florida is a case in point. They refused the Medicaid expansion so the feds are taking their allowed funds and are trying to cut them to put pressure. Rather than stand firm and even try to rely on the 10th, they are trying to bring suit because its unfair to withhold the funds.

Unbelievable but mostly true. You dance with the devil, don’t complain if you smell like sulphur and your hands are hot.

So my guess is they will force compliance with money and then mop up with arrests, shaming and derision.

The red states will crumple like cheap suits.

I hate it but there it is.

“Bumper sticker philosophy” can’t.

Genuine faith uncorks the heavenly power that can.

And the word has to get out there somehow. It can begin very nicely with a statement like Huck’s. There’s a God out there standing against the nonsense. Next step, to invite the God “out there,” to be “in here.”

Huck could be a dreadful politician in other ways but I think he got divinely guided to nail this one.

There is no substitute for the direct link with God.

It’s like trying to believe an airplane will fly. Preposterous, till you see it do so.

... and so comes the role for the so called “leap of faith.”

If you are not willing, God will likely “shove you off the edge.” It’s unwise to hold out until then.

Huckabee should know better than to say SCOTUS can’t overule God. They think they ate God.

Huckabee has a very good way with words.

He does. A much better TV host than a President IMHO.

My mother is religious. 82. She keeps telling me I will never fully heal from my injuries without faith and prayer. I’m not one to hold back so I’ll tell you. I don’t know if it’s stubbornness, pride, laziness, self pity, depression or a combination of all of them keeping me down..

The first part of that Psalm talks about the impulses behind what the governments of the world and the enemies of God, how he views them and what he will do with them. It is chilling because the rage by the secularists is really become that horrific....Psalm 2

1 Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?

2
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,

3
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

4
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.

5
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:

6
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”

7
“I will declare the decree:
The Lord has said to Me,
‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.

8
Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

9
You shall break[a] them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
