My best friend is a democrat. We somehow hitted our relationship right off by talking politics. We had real intensive talks concerning our points of view and we finally came to the conclusion that friendship was more important than being destroyed by politics. Now, my friend and his wife are not going to vote for the spook in the Scooby bus, but for a republican, and its not going to be Bush. He like me can’t stand Bush.
I had a friend who as time went on got offended at things I said, which I was not trying to do, I was just trying to discuss something. Even t times when I consciously tried to keep things uncontroversial, things would not go well. She wanted certain things to be off-limits to talk about. I envisioned a future of more and more things we would not be able to talk about. I said that aas not what an honest friendship was aBout, and that friends are suposed to be people that you can be gourself around and not have to walk on eggshells. She decided to drop me as a friend.
I have one as well. Our decisions are like a brutal game of racquetball but its all in good fun and he is a good sport. I often tell him we have been talking for years and he has yet to win an argument.
The other day it was about minimum wage. He was on a rant about how important it was that it be razed to $15 an hour with all the liberal claptrap.
I just let him rant, then his son (who works for him) piped in and said "Dad you don't pay me $15 an hour!"
GAME ON: I said, "What you don't pay your employees' a living wage!" I ripped him for a good while and had a blast doing it. Game set match.
