Your Dad and his mother or the potatoes?

Playing Grammar cop of which pair does “they” refer to. In memory of my late Grandmother Victoria.

The kids should take the rainbow oreos. Then they can tell school administrators they are homophobic if they’re not allowed to eat them.

“My Dad did in fact walk to school....”

I heard the same story from my Dad (Irish descent). One in each pocket of his coat kept his hands warm and that was lunch.

If I read the report correctly the kid was not allowed to eat her lunch because it wasn’t healthy enough? Just starve the child. Perfect.

Who the hell are these thugs going in to the teaching industry? I have said many times that the education industry is little more than a jobs program for failures and wannabe tyrants. Sure, the 5% of good teachers look bad compared to the rest. But my God. What kind of petty tyrant is going to take the food from a kid? Oh yeah. We have one in the white hut and her husband.

French fries and potato chips are both tasty in sandwiches.

Most of the guys that I knew who had their hands in their pockets all the time didn't rely on potatoes to keep them warm.............:0)......:o)

I would certainly never make any assertion that potatoes were unhealthy (heck, my great-great-granddad Andrew was born in Ireland) ... I mocked the assertion that potatoes were unhealthy unless paired with bread.

My nephew-in-law attends a public school in the USA.

He was forbidden to take a lunch from home — everyone was required to eat the school lunch. I assume this had something to do with school funding and Michele Obama.

He keeps kosher.

My brother-in-law-in-law (a lawyer) pointed out that if they intended to forbid take-from-home foods, they were required to provide kosher meals, which requires a wholly separate kitchen, utensils, kosher food, etc.

The edict was promptly withdrawn.

My daughter had a similar experience (although not about Kosher). Her preschool only allowed bag lunches from home if it was the SAME EXACT FOOD every day. The director admitted the rule was designed to force my granddaughter to accept the Federally approved meals.

To her credit, my daughter requested a calm, professional and thoughtful conference with the school director who quickly reversed the rule. Ultimately, the director conceded that the interests of the child were more important that the interest of the state. It made my day.
