Abbott sent a letter Tuesday to Maj. Gen. Gerald “Jake” Betty, commander of the Texas State Guard, directing him to provide regular updates to the governor to ensure that residents’ “safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed”

But I bet this got round-filed as soon as he finished reading it.

The TX State Guard has no federal affiliation and answers directly to the governor at all times. I doubt it was round-filed.

As to the governor sending the letter, he may be the only governor in the entire US that understands his place in the pecking order and it’s not behind the feds.
