How the Baltimore Mayor's office explains her infamous 'space to destroy' remark
Washington Examiner ^ | April 27, 2015 | Philip Klein

With massive violence spreading in Baltimore on Monday, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is under fire for a statement she made over the weekend indicating that she ordered the city's police to give people the "space" to destroy property.

"I've made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech," Rawlings-Blake said in a press conference.

"It's a very delicate balancing act, because, while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well. And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to deescalate, and that's what you saw."

How could a mayor actually say she asked police to allow people to destroy property?

According to her office, her statement didn't quite come out the way she intended it to.

Waffle, Straddle & Backfill is not just the name of a law firm set up to cover public statements made by persons of elective or appointive office, when they “misspoke” or were “misinterpreted”. It is the strategy of the desperate.

According to her office, her statement didn't quite come out the way she intended it to.

That's a great explanation.

"According to her office, her statement didn't quite come out the way she intended it to."

In political speech that means she accidently told the truth.

There is NOT ‘explanation’... her statement was patently ‘self evident’.

There’s nothing to ‘explain’

I guess morons like this can only be elected to office my even more morons who vote!

She has Obama Disease....she claims to ‘be clear’ or ‘say all along’ or ‘be on reccord as saying’ as if being wrong twice instead of once is an excuse or a justification.

And she was was actually ‘clear’ why the need for all the subsequent explanations and restatements? These people think they get as many bites at the catchphrase apple as it takes for the press to leave them alone.

Many Black politicians (liberals only) are victims of the soft racism of low expectations. And that is the reason they are incompetent.

The Peter Principle doesn't apply to them because their race makes them immune. Ergo, they keep rising up the ladder despite their failure at effectiveness.

The arrogance of those who let these things happen and think they can always control the outcome is a lot like what happened in the Mideast and elsewhere, with rioters being inspired and enabled by outside agitators.

The vacuums created globally and in the US (if us "little folk" don't finally get mad as 'ell) will bring down civilization as we know it.

Look at the parts of the world that are already uninhabitable. We're goin' down that slippery slope.
