Russia has unveiled a new-generation battle tank called Armata T-14 ahead of World War Two Victory Day celebrations on 9 May.

It is among several new weapons systems featuring in a vast parade on 9 May. It is 70 years since the Soviet and Allied armies defeated Nazi Germany in 1945.

The Russian defence ministry has posted photos of the new military hardware, taken during a rehearsal.

Most Western leaders will not go to Moscow because of the Ukraine crisis.

We need to invent a new A-10 Warthog.

As a former tread head I look at the new tank and wonder...how many of these things can one of our drones take out per sortie?

The Kremlin’s Troll Army: Moscow is financing legions of pro-Russia Internet commenters

A June article by Max Seddon of BuzzFeed reported the Kremlin was spending millions of dollars to pay English-speaking Russians to promote President Vladimir Putin and his policies in U.S. media like Fox News broadcasting and The Huffington Post and Politico news sites. Trolls are reportedly expected to manage multiple fake accounts and post on news articles 50 times a day, often with sentiments as simplistic as “Putin makes Obama look stupid and weak!”

I wonder how much they get paid!

I’d be glad to post “Obama looks stupid and weak!” 100 times a day!

Is there any truth to that rumor, Paid_Russian_Troll?

It's not so much that he's 'stupid' or 'weak'. It's more about where his loyalties lay. The damage he's doing to America is largely INTENTIONAL.

The pro-Russia trolls have a lot in common with Obama and his ilk. Both want a substantially weakened America.

Interesting post. I don’t follow specs like I used to, but this looks like Russia’s first break from the straight-line progression of the T-72/T-80 series. The new hull adds one road wheel and resembles a Merkava, while the turret is radically different and the tank weighs five tons more overall. Earlier speculation about a remotely controlled turret appears to have been correct, along with separate compartments for ammunition and crew. These are ambitious improvements, though unproven.

We need to invent a new A-10 Warthog.

I don't think the A-10 requires any major improvement, just renewed production to replace our worn out fleet. It remains the best tank-killing aircraft in existence, and would be just as devastating against the T-14 (or any other tank in the world) as it has proven against the T-62/72/80 series. I think we are nuts to replace the A-10 with multi-purpose, unarmored fast movers with no loiter time. Build new A-10s!
