Conservative Media Rallies to Walker After Tough Talk on Legal Immigration
Breitbart ^ | April 26, 2015 | William Bigelow

Posted on 04/27/2015 4:48:45 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

The conservative movement’s leading media icons lined up to back Scott Walker after the media attempted to lynch him for talking tough on immigration.

After being attacked...Walker stayed the course...

“A couple years ago, when the unemployment rate was at incredibly high levels and labor participation was low, why would we want to flood the market with more workers?” he said. “So that would be a time when you would have arguably less. As the unemployment rate goes down and labor participation rates go up, the two have to go hand in hand. Then it could be conceivably more than we have today. So it’s not a set number.”

[NYT]:..Walker told Glenn Beck that he favored restricting legal immigration in tough economic times and that Friday, answering two young Republicans, Walker asserted, “In terms of how wide or how narrow the door’s open, our No. 1 priority is American workers and American wages. I don’t know how anyone can argue against that.’’

The conservative backlash came after Walker had been pilloried not only by the media but also some establishment Republicans...

...[Beck]"..for four days he has been beaten up in the press because he said, 'I want to protect American jobs and American workers.'”

.....[to caller] Mark Levin bluntly stated [Walker] was unafraid to take a hard stand, asserting:“Let me tell you Maureen, one did make it a couple of days ago, Scott Walker. To his great credit. And guess who’s attacking him? The crazy fanatics who write editorials,..."

....Laura Ingraham wrote,“Right on cue. No sooner does Scott Walker reiterate a principled and populist stance on immigration—one which would prioritize the jobs and wages of everyday working Americans—than the mainstream media and Establishment pols emerge ready to attack....."

Michael Savage was brief,..At this point, the only one I can back is Scott Walker, and I don’t know much about him..."

LIBERALS see it as "risky." Where have we heard that before?

April 27, 2015: Scott Walker's novel immigration stance seen as risky

"Gov. Scott Walker’s latest surprise on the crucial topic of immigration last week earned him grief from his fellow conservatives.

Walker staked out uncharted — and some political scientists say risky — ground when he said he favored lower levels of legal immigration to protect the jobs and wages of workers already here.

“The next president and the next Congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, protecting American workers and American wages,” Walker told conservative commentator Glenn Beck.

Walker said he had talked with Alabama Republican Rep. Jeff Sessions, chairman of the Senate Judiciary’s immigration subcommittee, who had previously been a rare voice in calling for fewer legal immigrants.

Some thought Walker might have misspoken because rolling back legal immigration is opposed by business groups and considered offensive to recent immigrants. But he said it again while he was campaigning in Iowa over the weekend..........................."

They are not rallying to walker. Beck I can’t talk about, is he conservative? He’ll change his mind a few times. Ditto savage. He’ll hope walker will appear on his show, no one else would invite the personal nasty attacks if they decide to not appear again, Laura and mark are not rallying to walker here. They’re saying that what walker SAID is good

And the context in which levin is speaking is narrowed in this piece. Not sure the circumstances

Conservative radio?

Is rush endorsing walker? Is Hannity? Not seeing that

“...Sean Hannity blasted, “If these establishment folks, instead of attacking guys like Scott Walker—if they put half the effort into helping these desperate Americans as they do into helping the people who don’t respect American laws, don’t respect American sovereignty, maybe those people would be back in the labor force and back working again.”..

“A couple years ago, when the unemployment rate was at incredibly high levels and labor participation was low, why would we want to flood the market with more workers?” he said.

A couple of years ago? It’s better now? Any numbers to go with this assertion?

“So that would be a time when you would have arguably less. “

??

“As the unemployment rate goes down and labor participation rates go up, the two have to go hand in hand. Then it could be conceivably more than we have today. So it’s not a set number.”

Tough words ? I do not know what he is saying

I see that you’re upset and sputtering.

Let me suggest that Walker has focused on the a gaping economic wound of America’s unemployed workforce, knows that it needs immediate attention and has correctly called for a medic.

Walker staked out uncharted--

Uncharted, risky?

To set the record strait, the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) was originally part of the Department of Labor. It was always accepted that legal immigration was a tool to enhance the welfare of the nation through actions in the labor force. It was not a tool to enhance the welfare of the world or any particular group of immigrants.

The INS was then moved to the Justice Department where the organization's mission was politicised. Now the INS is called Citizenship and Immigration Service (CIS) and is part of the Department of Homeland Security and is fully weaponized against working Americans.

Walker's stance is a historically accurate recitation of immigration's traditional role in America.

Is Walker another Lincoln? Does he have a resolute vision of how to fix America? I like his emphasis on blue collar jobs. Stop the H1b immigrants from taking our higher paying jobs. I’m a Cruz man but I am examining Walker carefully!

Always expecting the nasty ad hominum attacks of the wishful walkers, walker speaks a lot about this. Not sure what talking about a vague representation of the labor participation rare of ‘a couple of years ago’ has to do with reality or what it is he’s done or is going to do about it, but some conservative talk personalities have commented positively about what he’s talking about

Of course your not seeing that, because they aren't.

Rush has stated clearly, for years, that he won't endorse anyone until after the primaries. I imagine Hannity is the same.

You know, I’m tired of being nice about this. I have not gone on other candidate threads. That courtesy never bought me an inch of good will from anti-Walker zealots.

Scott Walker has a lot to offer.

Instead of being Johnny-on-the-spot to throw rotten vegetables, go support your candidate - post threads that give information that highlights their positions, campaign, etc.

Cruz is going to take an even tougher stand than Walker, when he clearly states his position.

That raises the question, of course, will the Cruz people here who are accusing Walker of ‘flip-flopping’ also admit that Cruz has ‘flip-flopped’?

“Cruz opposes comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for the estimated 11-12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. But the Texan is a big proponent of legal immigration and making adjustments to U.S. law that would facilitate more legal immigration. He criticized Walker for suggesting that he supported limiting legal immigration if it has a negative impact on the wages of American workers.”

I’m a Cruz supporter at this point. He speaks for me, so far.

Walker has an amazing record of near miracle work in Wisconsin, of all places! And really all of our top tier candidates are decent men with laudable records, certainly compared to Hillary Clinton.

The snot seems to be flying early around here, sarcasm, arrogance and bluster, trying to shut down thinkers and supporters and observers of other candidates, who will likely study all the candidates through the summer.

It is very divisive and the crap deserves push back. Conservatives can behave like fascists too. We have learned that from past experience around here.

We need not be bullied.
