In this case a guy is stopped for running from the police. No arrest. He was not found doing anything illegal. Just looking suspicious. I guess it may be illegal to run from police. Anyway they capture him and they put him in a van.
He looks ok going into the van. He is handcuffed, but otherwise not held down. Anyway the van goes around the city, not back to the police station. It stops three times and someone else is stuffed in as well. By the third stop, his spine has been snapped and he is yelling for a medic. He does not get prompt medical help and he dies.
Most of this is on tape from lots of different cameras around the city and from people.
My opinion is that this is murder. Running from the police may be stupid. But a judge determines your punishment not the police. The police should be responsible for this mans health when he is cuffed and placed in a mobile holding cell. A 25 year old man who is by all accounts in perfect health going into a van should not have his spine snapped.
I am on the police side with Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown of Ferguson. In those two cases its clear that a thug was fighting with law enforcement who were defending themselves. But this is not at all the case here.
At the very least, Baltimore will pay this guys relatives a lot of money.
The media should stop giving these thugs an audience.

That was my point.
No these guys are hired thugs that flew into town to cause a news story. They are professional agitators who get some locals to carry things too far. It only takes a few agitators to create a mob and get it to do things that the mod would not normally be so bold to do. You see it with the police cars. Were some agitators are telling others to roll the police car. Agitators throw the first rock. They yell to the crowd to smash the windows, they may smash the first one. But they are the ones covering their faces.
In Chicago last summer. They were in a crowd near the back. They pushed the crowd toward the police, hoping to get a police reation. The crowd was caught between the agitators in back and the police in front. Fortunately the police were ready and started to go at the back. They did not over react.
In London two summers ago during a large peaceful union demonstration a group, maybe 50 agitators came with masks and hammers and spray paint. The police formed a 30 policeman circle. And as they identified agitators they would throw them one by one into the circle. The agitators could not leave the circle until they removed their masks and showed id. Some were arrested anyway if they were caught in the act.
Agitators are trying to create a news story. Its all marketing really. They want the reporters to get pictures of burning cars and broken windows. They love video of police beating up people.

So why riot? Let this one play out. There are two issues at play here. One is that there are cases where policing has to be more geared to preventing crime and following regulations. The other is that cases like this create the impression that a lot of blacks do not accept the rule of law and just want to riot.

Yes, even when the protesters are right, rioting and looting taint the message. Nothing says standing up to the man like wanton destruction and theft. Looters should be shot, but, I guess, those days are past and the police just stand back now and let the mob do what it wants. If you are a property owner, you are on your own.

In Chicago this past week, a cop was found not guilty for shooting into a crowd and killing a teenage girl who was shot in the head. He fired several times. The cop was off duty.
In the trial, the judge stopped it in the middle. And just said the prosecutors had no case. And the cop goes free.
If anybody else had pulled their weapon and shot several times into a crowd, they would be doing time. This guy was not on duty. He says he thought he saw a gun in the crowd. Which to me, does not justify shooting into the crowd. No other shots were fired. No other gun was found. No witness saw another gun.
So, these people rioting figure that when the prosecutors and police bring one of their own to trial, its a fake trial. Nobody is trying to convict. Here in Chicago we get this a lot. In Illinois there were over a hundred cases where the DNA overturned the convictions years after the verdict. We simply stopped capital punishment because the trials were all a sham.
These people are trying to get a light shone on the trial before it starts. They don’t trust that the prosecutor will do his job. They think the police will make up evidence. And they think the jury will be hand picked by both the defense and prosecutor to acquit.
Drudge calls them “a pack of teens”. They don’t have to identify race. Just call them as they are...animals.
