Some of us expected MARY J. to cause this.

Yep, my brother had quite a bit more learning to do at this point in his life.

Thing is though, the boss and her secretary had been best friends for most of their lives. This secretary was a 40 + cougar who ran around the office routinely in her exercise outfits. This was an office of salesman who were notably very good looking guys. So it seemed she had a case of I need to prove that I still got it.

So that year, at the mandatory Christmas party in the French Quarter, she met up with my brother at a bar, they had drinks and then went home together in a cab. According to him he rode all the rides on her playground that night, and really didn’t see a need to see her again, because he had seen everything she has to offer.

She was not pleased with this decision at all, and it somehow made its way back to her boss, who fired him for false reasons, because he was and is quite a good salesman.

But okay, he screwed up big time. You don’t boink the bosses sexretary and then shine her on...that’s just asking for it, and he got it. But about a year later both the boss and her secretary were let go for being inadequate at their jobs (I suspect something else was the actual reason though). Beware cougars!

THAT’S parsing! And btw, I never said you did say ALL, so if anyone has a reading comprehension problem here, I would suggest it is you.
Look I’m not saying marijuana is the best thing in the world, just that, used responsibly, it is not all that bad, and is certainly less harmful than LEGAL alcohol or cigarettes.

Saying MOST is not a blanket statement. Saying ALL is a blanket statement.

And no, I won’t give a percentage number. As I reject your premise.

The man didn’t relocate his business because people were showing up drunk, brain surgeon!

Not shocked. It’s still illegal here and yet I’ve had business owners tell me that over 60% of their applicants fail the drug test.

I've heard and seen the same thing. The Marcella Gas drilling boom required many new tanker drivers for the ramp up. Companies were taken people strait out of high school and providing training with second year earnings in the 90K range.

There were only two requirements for the position. The companies wanted the new hires to show up on time and be sober. 60% was the rejection rate during the first year. Worse, people failed scheduled drug testing even when they knew days in advance.

Our country has too many systemic problems with our citizens. Nothing good is going to come out of cannabis legalization.

“Yes, while the “intoxication” effects may only last a few hours, the cognitive impairment of regular use lasts for days. Essentially your IQ drops considerably for several days afterward. It’s not that he’s “high” now...it’s the lingering effect of reduced capacity that is at issue. There then becomes the attentiveness and motivational issues too, with regular consumption.”

I am a former pot smoker, and I agree with this. It does have a lingering effect, potheads have their reputation for a reason.

Dude, relax. Don’t be so damned defensive or offended.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Just poking a little...

I assume it’s really tough finding CDL truck drivers.

Those in the trucking industry will tell ya the job just sucks and the pay is a joke for what the job is. No family life, living out of some truck or at cheap hotels or truck stops in the middle of no where, all while being away from home most of the time while maneuvering on nasty icy roads, dead time, and on and on.

If your a loner who does not like being home or around the kids and family and enjoy not having any kind of personal life and don't mind getting fat, you might like long haul trucking.

They'd have to pay me 230K + per year salary + full medical, and a major retirement plan to put up with all that.

I fully understand why there is always a shortage with these long haul guys. A real crap life with poor compensation.

For $90 grand you would think people would quit getting high long enough to pass a drug screen at least.

Reject away; since you can’t defend your premise, I’d say you’ve lost the argument - by default.

My son has CDL.

He is 20 years old and like a minor God in the business.

Why? No Alcohol, no drugs and no record.

I was talking more about the trash truck and box truck delivery guys. Ones that are typically based close to home and don’t travel overnight.

You’re probably still affected more than you realize after only a couple of drinks.

I don’t drink or use pot, but I don’t mind a few more potheads if the trade-off is a step toward reducing governmental power.

The one I had experience with, The insurance company came off his claim and Work’s Comp cancelled his benefits. He was on his own for his medical expense and to find another job. But, in the end, he went back to work for the State of Florida. He was on work release. He almost cut his hand off on a table saw. He was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment and the hospital also took a blood sample. When the results of the blood sample revealed that he had meth in his system, his place of employment call the placement Officer at the institution and informed him of the results of the blood test and also informed the placement officer that the inmate was terminated for drug use. And since he was injured with drugs in his system, his insurance and Workman’s Comp was no good. He was returned to prison for violating the terms of his work release.

This was known long before it was legalized. It’s simply one example of how legalization affects workers and companies. It will only get worse.

I suspect eventually what will happen is that the Democrats will ban pre-employment drug testing. Just like how they are trying to give the vote back to felons.
