Unfortunately, the police are unionized and are thusly primarily Democrat Party inclined. We have, in effect, a political police force, similar to the SA/SS, which were political police forces in Germany.

Not quite true. Police on the East Coast and in a large part of the Midwest are unionized. However in the South and the West, right to work states, police have unions but membership is not compulsory. I was a police union leader for over a decade. I can tell you that in my department, 90% of our membership voted conservative at election time. Even today with the effects of diversity and lowered qualifications, the overwhelming majority of my former association votes conservative.
