Global warming progressing at moderate rate, empirical data suggest [Duke University]

A new study based on 1,000 years of temperature records suggests global warming is not progressing as fast as it would under the most severe emissions scenarios outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

"Based on our analysis, a middle-of-the-road warming scenario is more likely, at least for now," said Patrick T. Brown, a doctoral student in climatology at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment. "But this could change."

Physicist Howard Hayden's one-letter disproof of global warming claims [pre-Climategate]

Dear Administrator Jackson:

I write in regard to the Proposed Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases Under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act, Proposed Rule, 74 Fed. Reg. 18,886 (Apr. 24, 2009), the so-called "Endangerment Finding."

It has been often said that the "science is settled" on the issue of CO2 and climate. Let me put this claim to rest with a simple one-letter proof that it is false.

The letter is s, the one that changes model into models. If the science were settled, there would be precisely one model, and it would be in agreement with measurements.

Alternatively, one may ask which one of the twenty-some models settled the science so that all the rest could be discarded along with the research funds that have kept those models alive.

We can take this further. Not a single climate model predicted the current cooling phase. If the science were settled, the model (singular) would have predicted it.

(excerpted from Professor Hayden's letter to Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator Environmental Protection Agency. More at link.)

One week out from May 1st and it’s freezing here in Connecticut.

I’d love a little warming about now.

The sound of back pedaling as real data contradicting the fake models piles up. They’re still not ready to say the theory is crap (who wants to volunteer their career to the execution pyre?) but some are beginning to realize that the jig is up. It took Soviet scientists, working under similar stresses, decades to finally admit that Lysenkoism was garbage. A similar or worse time frame can be expected for this latest venture in pseudo-science.

Of course taking this graph into earlier times would show how a good warm climate apparently led to a population spurt in the mid-Asia Steppes that forced the Hun/Goth/Vandal migrations into Europe that pressured an aging Rome and then the 400-900 cold snap that killed agriculture and Pace Romana.

Showing regional and global precipitation and temperature changes would, as you say, explain a large part of world history.

This guy’s going to get his a** kicked by other members of the scientific establishment.

Anyone threatening to derail the Climate Change Grant Gravy Train must be stopped!

There’s an ebb and flow to global warming and cooling because it’s a self correcting closed system.

Empirical data? That’s the problem right there.

There’s an ebb and flow (flo) to global warming and cooling because it’s a self-correcting closed system.

Maybe Patrick T. Brown will figure this one out... then again, maybe not.

probably not....he doesn’t deny man-made global warming,(he even alludes to it) only that it is “in pause”.

Well Al Gore says it’s millions of degrees at the center, so I guess we can just be glad it’s not THAT warm! /s;)
