Most likely. It's what happens when one jettisons their moral groundings for relativism. Gradually, the "lesser of two evils" morphs into not just a voting option, it becomes a categorical imperative. On a national scale, this leads to greater and greater decay, and the leaders in Washington come to realize they can get away with anything they want.
