We’ll see ... when the six months passes, but right now I think it’s subterfuge from Wal-Mart. I don’t think they want to give out the real story; more questions would be raised and they would have more adverse press.
When has a company taken a hit for saying they closed a store because it wasn't profitable?
I'm wondering if this isn't an experiment on Walmarts part. If all these stores have been there for a while and have a workforce that are full-timers or part-timers over the new $9 minimum wage then maybe Walmart is seeing what happens to profitability if they close a store, fire the staff, then open it with new, lower-cost employees?
