Since I was not a big Mendelssohn fan growing up (except Fingal’s Cave, which was used in a Warner Brothers cartoon which has now been “suppressed’ as it depicts a little African boy in traditional native garb brandishing a spear...Oh My!), I heard the JC Superstar version first. Then years later, I heard the violin concerto on classical radio and was stunned at the thievery! LOL!

Since I am a composer, I am VERY circumspect about copying other people’s melodies, even if they have been dead a long time.
Of course, there are only so many chord progressions, and only so many notes, so sometimes things happen inadvertantly.

But I would never do it deliberately like some of these guys seemed to have done.

That’s the production of La Boheme where a “starving” Pavarotti feeds his new play to the stove to keep warm! hahahaha

My favorite!

Good evening, Sand...((HUGS))...TV installed in Mom’s room. Now I have to write her a list of the channels she likes that she now has in HD.

And then how to use the remote. The install guy did something to the remote so the power button always just turns the TV on and off...she can’t turn off the cable box. I like it. My Dad always, and my Mom occasionally, were turning off the box and waiting for me to get home to “fix it”.

I agree entirely! Sad to say, there is probably a mass of people of our age who think that Paul Simon came up with that tune. He may have come up with a couple of nice tunes on his own, but this was not one of them.

Must retire now.

"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life.
I am prepared to give my life in their defense."

The original with one of the greatest clarinet solos ever written. It’s a love song that Sergei wrote for his wife.

Rachmaninov: Symphony #2 in E minor, Op. 27, third movement

The remake.

Eric Carmen: “Never Gonna Fall in Love Again”

Good evening, Kathy...((HUGS))...glad the TV got installed in Mom’s room.

Call the install guy back to undo what he did to remote so the power button always just turns the TV on and off...she can’t turn off the cable box. I like it. My Dad always, and my Mom occasionally, were turning off the box and waiting for me to get home to “fix it”.

They cleaned up the play for the movie. The movie is now iconic, but the play has much sharper humor.
