“Exhibit 1: Glenn Beck. He took a organic, focused movement with a simple to understand theme TEA - Taxed Enough Already - and single-handedly turned it into a weepy liberal mess, the 9/12 movement, whose most important job was further veneration of Martin Luther King. “

Good call. I’d forgotten about that.

I always saw myself as a "Beck-Head" but where I differ from Beck is on this issue. Sure, I do agree deep dow nthat King was right about the content of character, not on one's looks or race. I hesitate the beatification of King because I often wonder i he would have joined the ranks of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton in playing the Race Card. Also, there was a belief that he was a Communist, my maternal grandmother always thought so.

BTW, I always thought Beck had the worse taste in bumper music, his current opening theme is horrible, the singer sounds like he's singing out of his butt. I cringe when I hear it.

Jesse Jackson was part of King’s entourage so that should throw some light on that question. And King had two senior advisors, Stanley Levison and Hunter Pitts Odell, who were members of the CPUSA when it was a tool of Stalin and Khrushchev during the Cold War. It was that association that earned King his FBI wiretaps.

“I do agree deep down that King was right about the content of character”

You should always be wary of the words of politicians and political activists. What they say is usually calculated to evoke a response in the listener and usually does not reveal everything that the speaker is up to.
