It wouldn’t have mattered if Cruz had been there to vote no;the fix was in, there was a sufficient majority to confirm.

I have plenty of ire for them. But Cruz is supposed to be the good guy. It sends a terrible message that he didn’t even bother to vote, “present.” These things matter. Cruz was supposed to be better than McConnell.
Pressure needs to be pout on Cruz for this betrayal. If he gets away with this he will go the way of all the supposedly conservative Senators. Do you want to vote for Cruz and end up with Orrin Hatch or Arlen Spector?
