Schwarzenegger Insists He's Not Turning Into Democrat, Explains GOP Skepticism Of Global Warming

During his time as governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger championed issues -- like environmental conservation and stem cell research -- that are often associated with a Democratic agenda.

So when Schwarzenegger joined HuffPost Live, Ricky Camilleri asked if the bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-politician is now becoming a "closet Democrat."

"No, not at all," Schwarzenegger answered. "The Democratic Party has done a good job in grabbing some of those issues so you think they're Democratic issues. Those are people's issues. I don't see the environment as a Democratic issue or as a Republican issue."

Schwarzenegger pointed to Theodore Roosevelt, who protected public land and created the U.S. Forest Service, and Richard Nixon, who created the Environmental Protection Agency, as notable Republicans with a strong history of conservation. The former governor added that the widespread denial of global warming among Republicans comes down to "a matter of communicating."

Arnold’s Kennedy-Klan wife emasculated him decades ago.

He’s not doing anything so present tense as “turning into a Democrat.”

Arnold needs to retire. His film career comeback was a bust. When he opens his mouth on politics, he says something liberal. Just retire to some beach, pump iron and chase whichever 22 year old ditzy blond will let him catch her.

Rubbish.

Teddy Roosevelt was a founder of the Progressive “Bull Moose Party” and in 1912 ran as a third-party progressive against Republican William Howard Taft. The result was that he split the Republican vote so that the disastrous left-wing academic Progressive Democrat Woodrow Wilson won the election that year.

And as for Nixon, I have only two words: PRICE CONTROLS.

And as for global warming, all I can say to Arnold is that before I would believe in Anthropogenic Global Warming, I would require that any alarmist arguing the theory watch THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE, and produce refutation by CREDIBLE scientists of every point made in that film.

FWIW, he did propose a plan for working with California’s water supply years down the line, but that plan got rejected. The plan would include desalination and collecting salt for other uses, among others.

But overall, yes, not that great. The big contradiction I see in many politicians is thinking that just people are the cause of problems, well, per capita consumption is way bigger than people.

I remember Drudge's Sunday night radio show. He went after candidate Schwarzeneggar one show with a vengeance.

I thought Drudge was off his meds that night.

In hindsight, Drudge was apparently correct, but to little avail.

He was elected to stop the car tax hike. Once elected he hiked the car tax. The democrats made fun of him as he was always agreeing with them. He’s a wuss who plays a tough guy on screen.

These poseurs are under constant pressure to move to the left if they aren’t already there. It is the only way they will be accepted by the A-list Chardonnay crowd.
