Killer immigration policy, done for the right reasons.
The problem with immigration isn’t just cheap labor — it’s cultural degradation and increased welfare costs. In addition to a populist appeal to wage earners, Walker should emphasize that American has no obligation to admit newcomers who are going to vote themselves into taxpayer wallets and vote us out of our religious traditions.
It's a risky stance, due to big donor preferences and press flak, but it could be an election winner if he gets the nomination. Middle of the road voters who usually vote Democrat but like his position might either vote for him or sit the election out. Ditto for any traditional Democratic constituencies who feel they're being squeezed out of the job market.
The difference between Cruz and Walker on this issue is that Cruz favors expanding legal immigration and the guest worker programs.
I have been following your posts for years. You are right, it is the correct position. I just have a hard time believing him because of his previous statements on the opposite side.
What is getting the GOP panjandrums all riled up is not only that Walker wants to cut guest worker programs - he also wants to cut the legal immigration that has been a sacred cow since 1965.
Walker did revoke in state tuition for illegal aliens.
Who else running has had the correct position?
Better late to the immigration fight than never.
The UK had this political battle over immigration and now there is a consensus that legal immigration needs to be reduced. A minor party, BNP, started it with the slogan, "British jobs for British workers." It resonated with the public forcing the major parties to discuss the issue rationally as a matter of public policy. The situation in the UK is a little different than ours because they have no control over the free flow of labor within the EU. The UK has, however, lowered immigration outside the EU and now the fight is over limiting it from the EU. Nigel Farage, UKIP, wants an exit from the EU over this issue among others. He has forced Cameron and the Tories to agree to a national referendum on whether to stay in the EU or not. Labor and the left want to stay in the EU as do the Tories. The upcoming election in May should prove interesting.
Cruz/Walker. The only real solid choice.

Why are Walker bashers on here insisting he "flip-flopped" on illegal immigration when one of his first acts as Governor was to cut off in-state tuition for illegal aliens?

There are those on FR who slam every conservative/republican in the running but never admit to who their choice is or would be.
I’m not a “basher” of anyone except maybe Jebster and Rubio, two who have shown their disdain for the rule of laws and the citizens.
Walker said himself that this is a change from his previously stated position. He had previously supported “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” which we all know is amnesty.
Together they'd be a winning ticket but I guess that's too much to ask for?
Perhaps he's listening to "we the people" as he travels around.

Cruz support both the legalization (not citizenship) of those here illegally AND the increased LEGAL immigration proposed in the Gang of 8 bill.
I am opposed to both of those positions and will point MY vote and money toward Walker...until/unless he is clearly exposed as lying.
