The Times of Israel ^ | April 21, 2015, 2:14 am | Ron Kampeas

Aside from Democrat Hillary Clinton, three Republican candidates with reasonable chances at the nomination have declared and several others are on the cusp.

The Republican Party says it’s been making inroads with Jewish voters, who traditionally have favored Democrats by 2-to-1 margins.

Sheldon Adelson. He's mostly on our side. He wants Skippy and the Dems gone, that's for sure, and for most of the right reasons. He and I disagree on the benefits of casinos, but he has more money, so my opinion doesn't seem to bother him. At all.

From the posted article:

"Here’s a rundown of the views of three declared Republican candidates — and two likely candidates — on issues of Jewish interest..."

When this writer, Ron Kampeas, summarizes each candidate, he mentions only two issues: Israel and immigration. Israel is a no-brainer as an "issue of Jewish interest" (even though many leftist Jews may not think so).

But immigration? That should be an issue of interest to ALL Americans, not particularly a "Jewish issue," although it does have ramifications relative to the Jewish community.

Seems to me I've seen stuff from this Ron Kampeas before and detected a leftward bias in his writing.

Don't think that Rand Paul's father Ron should be injected into a discussion of the candidate vis-à-vis the Jewish community, any more than JFK's notorious father should have been a part of a similar discussion.

There is no behavioral or polling data that either Israel or immigration is among the top issues that concern Jewish voters as a whole.

Well, not only the Times of Israel, but also the Jewish Telegraphic Agency leans left. And Kampeas is the chief of the JTA’s Washington bureau; he started his career with the AP in Israel.

My take on it was simple... he was addressing Jews in particular, not interests in general. That is a different perspective.

You know better than I that, like America, being a democratic (though ours was a democratically elected Republic) Country, Israel has an immigration problem, too. In any democratic government the threat always exist that the population will vote in socialism, communism, Islamism (sharia law), etc. due to immigrants coming into the Country. Heck, even Texas is worried that all the California Nuts will change the voting block there. The Constitution was the firewall for this happening, but, sadly, she now is in the dust bin of time.

Comparing Ron Paul to Joseph Kennedy is comparing apples to macadamia nuts. :-)

Thanks for your insights. I enjoyed them.
