Time After Time was written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne for the 1947 film It Happened in Brooklyn, and was introduced by Frank Sinatra and Kathryn Grayson. Its one of those songs that can be made to fit any format.
With Herb Alpert at the controls, Chris Montez brought it back in the Sixties.

Snagging the 50 was an unfortunate accident.
It’s been a weird week, starting with Monday at the VA for the pre-op ordeal. X-rays, EKG, pints o’blood and other fluids for the lab, meeting with the anesthesia guys and a barrage of paperwork to sign affirming that I understand worst case/best case scenarios (ranging from not waking up at all to waking up with internal organs missing to being hospitalized as an in-patient to going home when it’s over). Considering I just went through all this in March, I consider it overkill, but I’m thankful they are there for me.
Tuesday of course was taxes ... mine were done back in Feb., but Titan’s electronic filing went belly up and had to be mailed with a fat check since the IRS won’t answer the phone.
Wednesday was spent on the phone with my partner getting ready to get the Hendrix tribute band back together for rehearsals in September and wondering how we’ll finance the launch and travel.
Thursday, the clutch in my car started going south, so we put it in the shop this morning as I worried about finances some more and came home to find a mysterious deposit in my bank account from the US Treasury that was designated from the VA and can only be the answer to my pension request that has been in limbo for almost ever and I never dreamed I’d qualify for. From the amount, I assume it’s a one time settlement or possibly back pay or more likely a one two many zeros mistake, but I’m rolling with it.
The good Lord always provides don’t He?

That was most likely his second time around with Nelson Riddle just as his career was taking off again.

Charles Dawes, a Chicago bank president and amateur pianist and flutist, composed this tune in 1911 in a single sitting at his lakeshore home in Evanston. He played it for a friend, violinist Francis MacMillen, who took Dawes sheet music to a publisher. Dawes, known for his federal appointments and a US Senate candidacy, was surprised to find a portrait of himself in a State Street shop window with copies of the tune for sale. Dawes said, I know that I will be the target of my punster friends. They will say that if all the notes in my bank are as bad as my musical ones, they are not worth the paper they were written on.
Dawes was to become Vice President under Calvin Coolidge and win a Nobel Peace Prize. The tune followed him into politics, and he grew to detest it. It was a favorite of violinist Fritz Kreisler, who used it as his closing number, and in the 1940's it was picked up by Tommy Dorsey.
Carl Sigman wrote lyrics for it in 1951, and that was how Dawes Melody in A Major became Its All in the Game. Dinah Shore was the first to record it.
In 1958, Tommy Edwards had only one session left on his MGM contract. Stereophonic sound recording was becoming viable, and MGM decided to cut a stereo version with a slow rock and roll 6/8 arrangement. The single was a hit, reaching #1 for six weeks.
