Exactly.
I remember all the handwringng way back when Reagan ordered the PATCO jerks back to work or face dismissal.
“Oh, this will cost us union votes! This Wil backfire.” (And a lot of it, as now, was MSM concern trolls)
They refused, Reagan fired them and he came out looking tough and decisive.
Grow some balls, GOPee. Tell the “Hispanic lobby” if they plan on suborning lawbreakers, to hell with them: they can go vote for lawbreakers. As coy as they act, you know they will anyway. Eff ‘em!

I am glad you agree to the need to reduce legal immigration. I just didn't understand your logic of increasing the incentives to make legal immigration more attractive.

As someone who has actually issued visas, I can tell you that many of the illegal aliens would not even qualify for a tourist visa let alone an immigrant visa. No incentive to do things legally will change that unless we lower the standards for entry into this country or increase the numbers even more.

My point is that currently all the incentives are in favor of illegal entry.

Incentives? First of all, 40% of the illegals come here legally and then overstay their visas. Border controls are not going to affect that situation. Enforcing the law is the only real disincentive. The fact that we have over a million people a year entering legally as permanent immigrants and over 4 million waiting their turn overseas seems to indicate that there are "incentives" to doing it legally.
