um.. I am all for gun rights... but honestly that thing is an eyesore.

are you referring to the symbol of the boots/gun/helmet that has been used to honor the fallen since the Civil War?????

Guess you've never given your last salute to a brother you saw blown away in front of you? Just guessing...HONESTLY

This is what happens when “free range children” is an exception worthy of news coverage and CPS involvement. You end up with a society filled with pansies.

“um.. I am all for gun rights... but honestly that thing is an eyesore.”

It is only an eyesore to someone that is ignorant of its history. To those of us who have served, and especially to those that understand our liberty is a result of sacrificial blood, this statue is a stirring sight.

Think of it as just as stirring as the Red Stripes on our flag. That RED signifies spilt blood!

I saw way too many flag-draped coffins during my time in Afghanistan. This is a traditional and fitting way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. It may be an eyesore to you, but it has a special meaning for others, myself included.

I have no problem with the idea, just the execution of it. THAT particular statue looks like it was done by a kindergartner

I like many statues, I just want them to be done well with skill.

It's the rifle that has raised concerns among some members of the parks commission and the village council.

Tough Shit, kiddies. Get used to it. That memorial has been paid for in blood, not "concerns".

I always thought Milford was conservative. Must be some citiot transplants in office moving out west.

I don't think they'll be in office for long if the people there hear about it.

Oakland County is liberal due to Pontiac, Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Southfield, although Milford isn’t outside of the Village Council or (likely) the school board. Those are also usually non partisan elections so demoncrats run for them there under the radar.
