Hillary Clinton Hopes Supreme Court Will Okay Same-Sex Marriage
Aleteia ^ | April 15, 2015 | JOHN BURGER

Barack Obama paved the way, and now Hillary too has "evolved" on the position of redefining marriage to include two persons of the same sex.

"Hillary Clinton supports marriage equality and hopes the Supreme Court will come down on the side of same-sex couples being guaranteed that constitutional right," Adrienne Elrod, a Clinton spokeswoman, said in a statement, CNN reported.

Clinton, like Obama, opposed same-sex "marriage" in 2008, the last time she made a run for the White House. She supported the idea of civil unions instead and did not proclaim her personal support for same-sex "marriage" until she retired as Secretary of State in 2013.

During a 2014 interview with National Public Radio, Clinton said she always viewed marriage as "a matter left to the states and in many of the conversations I and my colleagues and supporters had, I fully endorse the efforts by activists to work state-by-state," CNN said.

After a handful of questions on the topic, [NPR Host Terry] Gross said she was just trying to "clarify" whether Clinton had changed her opinion on the matter or whether the political winds on the issue had shifted, allowing Democrats' 2016 presidential frontrunner to come out in favor of same-sex marriage.

Clinton pushed back on the question, telling Gross, "No, I don't think you are trying to clarify. I think you are trying to say that I used to be opposed and now I am in favor and I did it for political reason and that is just flat wrong."

Clinton's argued that for the four years she served as secretary of state, she was "out of domestic politics" and not in a position to back same-sex marriage. She moved on the issue later than many Democrats, though, including President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Her timing, however, raised some skepticism. Ryan T. Anderson, co-author of What is Marriage, for example, tweeted, "If the Constitution really requires states to redefine marriage, @HillaryClinton would have known so and said so long ago. Y silent til now?"

Thank gawd our founding fathers provided documentation from the founding on which to base judgement on a Same-Sex-Marriage law.

Which of the BOR ammendments was that in again?

She will still need to have polygamy legalized before she can marry Huma.

Give her the green light to marry Huma. By the way, sexual preference has absolutely no relevance to ‘equality’ under our Constitution. PERSONAL PREFERENCES have NOTHING to do with EQUALITY and should be of NO RELEVANCE to our military.

As a candidate, and former Secretary of State, she should not be voicing her opinion on matters before the Court.

FLASHBACK: Hillary, and her Senate friends, support traditional marriage ...

"I believe … that marriage is … not just a bond, but a sacred bond between a man and a woman. I have had occasion in my life to defend marriage … to stand up for marriage, to believe in the hard work and challenge of marriage. So I take umbrage at anybody who might suggest that those of us who worry about amending the US Constitution are less committed to the sanctity of marriage or to the fundamental, bedrock principles that exist between a man and a woman going back into the midst of history as one of the foundational institutions of history and humanity and civilization. And that it’s PRIMARY … principle role during those millennia has been the raising and socializing of children into the society of which they are to become adults."

Anyone else notice that everything Hillary “says” is through “spokespersons”?

She’s literally to scared to speak for herself - to actually show herself speaking a policy position in person.

This is clinical paranoia, folks.

Since the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect gay agenda issues like gay marriage, this is what Hillary must do if she really wants the Supreme Court to okay gay marriage.

Hillary must encourage Congress to propose a gay rights amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify Hillary’s amendment then the feds will have the constitutional authority under Section 5 of the 14th Amendment to make civil rights laws to protect gay rights and Hillary will be a hero.
