Congressional leaders announced they had reached a deal on legislation Thursday that if approved by Congress would speed consideration of President Obama's trade agenda.
The fast-track legislation, formally known as trade promotion authority, would make it easier for the administration to negotiate trade deals by preventing Congress from amending them.
It could ease negotiations on an agreement with 11 Latin American and Asian countries known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership that would be the largest trade deal for the United States since the North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada. Finishing the deal, a top priority for the White House, would almost be impossible, however, if the other trading partners thought a final deal would be changed by Congress.
The new legislation was announced on Thursday afternoon by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the ranking member on the Finance Committee who has been negotiating closelly with Hatch.

Another reason why we tried to can Hatch. But the Establishment (with the help of Mark Levin and Sarah Palin) got him reelected!
This “trade deal” is unrepentant evil, and will cause harm, perhaps irreparable harm to America. It has been stalled and halted in congress for very good reasons, and for congress to abandon its responsibilities because they are difficult is both cowardly and shows a willingness to allow America to be destroyed for petty, short term reasons.
Compromise in itself is vastly overrated and compromise with democrats is a losers game.
Every compromise with the democrats is a loss for our onstitutional republic and a gain for the forces of socialism and tyranny.
Even a small compromise gives up something, usually something guaranteed and protected by the constitution, and advances the progressive agenda.
