I'm stunned that someone got a screen capture!

After 2 decades, you can be forgiven if you start to doubt what you saw.

But then to see it all over again! From someone who happened to capture it! It allows you to affirm that your memory was exact, and it also allows you to show others what you saw!

Again: I saw this screen within 10 to 15 minutes of the breaking news the plane went down. They were very quick to create and distribute it. It was not a video at that point, it was a still-motion graphic.

Was TWA Flight 800 shot out of the sky?

More than likely. The Feds try to hide all sorts of stuff like this.

But they did say they had a specific reason, a short in the fuel tank. They even recall automobiles when they have a specific reason that causes them to crash or endanger its occupants.

But the don't ban those autos from the road until the recall is fixed. And in the TWA case I believe the FAA did issue a directive outlining corrective actions to be done.

1. Only one SAM system at the time capable of bringing down the plane at that altitude and location and it needed a mounting— could NOT be a MANPAD. No terrorist group at the time or since has shown the ingenuity or coordination to rig said system. As I said, talk to an air defender. I have, AT LENGTH, considering I grew up in a house full of them. None of them were lovers of the Clinton administration and none of them said this was possible.

2. If you rule out SAM that leaves a ship based system of the US Navy or an on-board bomb. Sailors are a loyal bunch, but they are Americans first. Had this been an accidental shoot, someone would have talked. Someone ALWAYS talks.

3. That leaves an on-board bomb. This seems more likely than either of the preceding scenarios but for one major sticking point. Terrorists like claiming their kills. No one claimed this one. There would have been the added embarrassment factor for the administration if, after a week of spouting “center fuel tank explosion” some jihadist a-hole had said “Oh yes, we blow up plane!”.

Look, I’ll be happy to be proved wrong. But you have to prove it, because all of the evidence and factual support of years of military professionals are saying exactly what I’ve just told you. (And what others have said in multiple threads over the years.)

The TWA crew member who had the seats tested for residue were promptly charged and thrown in jail. The test showed residue of rocket fuel and explosives.

Why did the FBI take over the investigation from the NTSB?? That had NEVER happened before, even with the Egyptian B767 that went down in the same area.

If it was military it could have been a small team on a small craft perhaps testing a new system and it went awry.

So if you're going to test a new missile system then you do it by shooting into the busiest air traffic corridor in North America? Good plan. </sarcasm>

Nelson Demille covered all this in his book Nightfall.

They were told to shut up or disregarded.

A couple of years later the Army launched a Stinger in the same area in the same meteorological conditions. Those witnesses that knew about the test, watched it and said that was exactly what they saw.

“We know from the witnesses that a missile left the ground and struck the plane” Name the witnesses please.

Unfortunately, the National Traffic Safety Board does not name them outright. It assigns them numbers, however, will that do? This excerpt is lifted is directly from the NTSB, unless maybe you think that the NTSB is filled with wild-eyed Mike-Rivero types?

Watch TWA 800 on Netflix. They name some, but there were around a hundred or so. If you really want the names I’m sure you can look them up...

An El Al B-747, with Netanyahu on board, was due to depart JFK in front of TWA 800. They asked for a delay (not unusual in the day of INS) and pulled into a holding area. TWA 800 took off in El Al’s time slot.

It wasn’t about a Navy test.

-- One of the reasons they used multiple planes on 9/11 was so the administration couldn't claim it was an accident. --

News reports after the first plane hit the WTCV were in the frame of "accident." Yeah, right. Perfect weather, etc.

You might want to try to find this book, written way back after the shootdown.
http://www.amazon.com/Downing-TWA-Flight-800/dp/0821758292/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1429197021&sr=8-4&keywords=TWA+flight+800

I read it shortly after the incident, and it was a good book, raises a great number of questions.

Ah, yes. One of a very short list of conspiracy theories I cannot seem to let go.

I watched it unfold on TV when CNN cut from their programming to BREAKING NEWS. I watched ground witness after ground witness telling of a red streak shooting up until it exploded. Witnesses describing what they thought was somebody shooting off a distant firework. Somebody even had a video taken from a party on a beach house deck overlooking the ocean...

Going to bed that evening after 4 hours of reporting from different stations, all indications were that a Paris-bound 747 was shot out of the sky by a missile from an unknown source.

And then it seems, by the time we woke up the next morning, all the witness interviews were gone and it was all a tragic accident. My immediate thought at the time was that because the Atlanta Olympics were getting ready to kick off and tourists and representatives from all over the world were flying to the U.S., the President wanted to alleviate any concerns of terrorist targeting the Olympics.
