Are you saying that "divorced persons" should not be loved?

Nope. That is the strawman that Marco built.

His words

“But again, as I said, I’m a member of the Catholic faith that teaches, for example, that divorce is wrong,” Rubio said. “But if someone gets divorced, I’m not going to stop loving them or having them a part of our lives.”

Do I need to explain in detail how fallacious that is? Please say that I don't

It just occurred to me that Rubio's Straw Man (“If someone gets divorced, I’m not going to stop loving them”) is neither a statement of principle (it's vacuous) NOR a gaffe. I think it may be perfectly deliberate and perfectly cynical.

He knows that what he said is a stupid non sequitur, but he also knows that the Great American Electorate cannot hold two thoughts in its head without one of them leaking out its ears. They just hear "love" and think "Oh well then, that's all right...."

The worst thing about American Democracy is that we get what we deserve.

Rubio is a former Mormon; what was he before he was Mormon?
