As the California drought worsens, some communities such as Orange County, San Diego and the Silicon Valley are expanding water recycling programs, and support for "toilet to tap" programs appears to be growing from a once-squeamish public.
Because a lot of communities are running out of water, they sort of have to explore all their options," said Janny Choy, research analyst with Water in the West, a program of the Stanford Woods Institute and the Bill Lane Center for the American West at Stanford University. "Recycled water is certainly one piece of the puzzle, but it's probably not going to be the answer to solve everybody's problem."

1. Stop the stupid non-earthquake-proof hispeed train to nowheresville.
2. Begin building multiple desalination plants. There is going to be no life left in the pacific thanks to freaking Japan. Returning brine back isn’t going to kill anything because there will not be anything left to kill.
Stop the welfare benefits and freebies to illegals and you will see the illegals and losers leave the state making more water for everyone else IMO.
Just a change to an attitude of....
“Anyone who WORKS...is welcome in CA”
Would alleviate the drought...and many other problems.
The problem is all who work get to enjoy the highest tax rates and unworkable conditions.
Our state Democrat super majority just passed another 50 cent a gallon tax and I didn’t love my four thousand dollar California income tax bill either.
Marxism just destroys everything :-(
Large government of any kind does this.
When the government is much smaller the people are better off.
$2.19 a gallon here.
Always a dollar higher here. :-)
Going for $1.50 higher.
Forcing more money out of the pockets of the people to further grow the government and the power spending brings.
I was just in CA a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that Diesel was $2.77/gallon, which is cheaper than it is here in OH. Gas was $3.50 or so. Seems like everyone would be buying Diesels out there (if they aren’t planning on leaving).
Diesel not long ago was $4+ a gallon.
WTF?
Another .50 cents?
That’ll make Calipornia the highest tax in the country fkr a gallon of gas at $1.17 before my first pour...
Those that are here are government, welfare, illegals or established regular folks here so long that they had their homes and businesses grandfathered in before the last twenty years of over regulation, political stupidity and massive taxes.
Thank that Democrat super majority the people voted you in.
Problem is those that voted that majority are all government employees, brainwashed students, dole users and even illegals probably voted them in.
Pipelines not ditches. They have been fighting over water for years.
My wife and I also couldn't figure out why so many cars had no license plates.
Is it true that is some parts of CA it has become illegal to capture rain water off your roof?
That seems counter productive imo because those that make that effort will just use their roof captured water as opposed to the diminishing muni water...any one know the story behind this? Thanks in advance.
“Recycled water is certainly one piece of the puzzle...”
That is a great Idea. Californians can attach a tube to their “pee-pee” and stick it in their mouths for recycling.
Poop can simply be done out in the back or front yard along side of their dog’s poop.
I can certainly see the benefits here.
Toilet to tap is nothing new, there is no new water. The water you made coffee out of this morning might be the same water that George Washington washed his feet in. It gets cleaned by nature. kalifornia has just drained their pools.
