Senate GOP plays it safe on gay rights vote

Senate Republicans, it seems, want nothing to do with Mike Pence on gay rights.

In a surprise procedural vote Monday night, the GOP-controlled Senate backed a pitch to give gay married couples equal access to certain entitlements and constitutional protections — suggesting Republicans want stay away from the same-sex drama plaguing the Indiana governor.

The chamber gave voice vote approval — without a single conservative objection or request for a roll-call vote — to a motion that would asked budget conferees, currently hashing out a deal with the House, to add language to the deal ensuring “all legally married same-sex spouses have equal access to the Social Security and veterans’ benefits they have earned and receive equal treatment under the law pursuant to the Constitution.”

Absolutely Unbelievable.

What would the Founding Fathers think of this?

GOPs - Grand Old Party of squishes.

We should hope they just stay out of it and let other the more principled & courageous fight these battles, instead of working with the democrats to undermine them.

So, they are just proving that they are Bigoted against Polygamous Marriages and Incestuous Marriages, right?

After all, fair is fair when you’re in “love”.

I hate these people. They have no principle except for their lust for power and influence.

I’ve had to strike the word ‘unbelievable’ out of my vocabulary over the last 6 years.

No worries, while Ted Cruz campaigns everyday all over the nation you can believe he’s bench-building Normal Amerians (I’m sick of the conservative label, when 65% of Normal Americans’ views have to be described as ‘conservative’)
to primary these squishes.

The gay-and leaning politicians must be forced to the RAT side of the aisle.

Does anyone think that Senator Jesse Helms would have kept quiet? I doubt that even Senator Rick Santorum would have kept quiet. Where are the voices today who represent us? Speak up Senators.

RINOS have been running the Indiana Senate (and to a lesser degree the IN House) for a long time (no pun intended).

Yes. Where was Cruz? This sure doesn’t comport with the speech he recently gave about “fighting the fight”.

Seems they’re all homosexualists.

Under our constitution any court would have to enforce such payments anyway.
Marriages are up to the states- except for discriminating “on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.”

‘Smart’ states will allow marriages of anyone to any one- or thing- to get more social security payments into their economies.
Yes, it’s all down hill.

Ted defers *everything* to the 10th Amendment, States’ Rights.
Weed, homosex, everything not expressly delegated to the Fed.

The States are Labratories where policy is decided. Did your state validate something you despise? Then MOVE.

There’s big money in homosexuality. Plus, when you’ve got a country run by compromised people, this is the morality you get.
