Russia is a petrostate. Iran is a petrostate. KSA is a petrostate. The USA is a petrostate.
The Russians have always wanted the KSA. It was why they invaded Afghanistan in the first place.
In the ME, it is becoming Sunni v. Shiite. The Russians don’t care, as long as Iran wins.
Iran believes if they do, then even though it appears the Russians are using them, Iran will turn the tables.
The US is backing Iran. They have Iranians placed high up in the WH, and there is Muslim Brotherhood throughout government.
Very soon, it will be Israel v Everybody Remaining.

Wrong! The Russian superpower evaporated in the early 1990s while the American superpower evaporated in the late 2000s.
Needless to say, there are no superpowers left.
