The SA-10 (SA-N-6) Russian missile is not something to scoff at. As a former Navy Attack Aviator, it was always a part of the equation as something to avoid or take out to the maximum extent possible.

Long range, high and low altitude capable, and fast... bottom-line, a serious threat.

Yes it can be defeated, but it is a deadly system and raises the risk to attacking aircraft exponentially.

I read that Russians were selling them the new SA-300 system. Are they the same thing or is there a difference?

If this were a sane world what would happen is Iran would receive a couple of visitors from Fulton Missouri, after which more visitors from Israel would arrive unimpeded.
