Its a phrase few Americans ever have the occasion to say: Im really getting pulled over by a tank right now. The reasons why the Florida man said it are just as eyebrow-raising as the fact that he was pulled over by a tank in the first place.
The whole encounter was captured on video.
The Gainesville Sun reported Monday on the story of 23-year-old Lucas Jewell, a self-professed Navy veteran and Gainesville City Commission candidate, who was pulled over by sheriffs deputies in an armored personnel vehicle after a University of Florida football game Saturday.
At first, Jewell thought hed been pulled over just because hed made an obscene gesture at the cops what the cops called an improper hand gesture. But the deputies had an additional reason.
It appeared that the young lady [in the passenger seat] was giving you fellatio, one told Jewell. For his part, Jewell was in disbelief.
I was surprised that we needed tanks to drive down our streets, he said, explaining that hed made the rude gesture because he didnt approve of police militarization. I thought this was a safe community, I didnt know we were in Iraq.
Thats an armored vehicle, not a tank, one of the deputies responded. You were in the Navy and you think thats a tank?
When deputies instructed Jewell to spit out his sunflower seeds they told him not to spit on them. Im sorry sir, I mean no disrespect, Jewell responded.
How am I a sir now? one deputy shot back. You were just flicking us off!
Jewell vehemently protested that he was not, in fact, in the middle of a sexual act as the deputies alleged. His phrasing was a little blunt.
Do you see my pants? Jewell said. I dont even have a boner.
He claimed his female passenger was merely sleeping on his lap.

Jewell was let off with warnings and deputies filed an informational report on the incident.
The Alachua County Sheriffs Office confirmed to the Sun that it is launching an investigation into the incident.
The sheriffs office also noted that the armored vehicle had been called out for regular security at the football game and was not normally used as a road patrol vehicle.
Jewell told the Sun he plans to file an official complaint, given the possible free speech violation stemming from deputies pulling him over for the hand gesture.
I’d agree but I have an aversion to “hickory shampoo”.
What a wacky conversation. You’d think a fully equipped Armored Police Vehicle would have more important things to do other than overacting to a rude gesture. Insecure much?
Give boys toys and they will play with them.
When the civil war started in Spain in July 1936, the communists & anarchists killed as many soldiers & policemen as they could - before they got to their stations/barracks (and gear). It successfully won Madrid & Barcelona for them.
Me thinks, in a militarized police state....go under the radar. Don’t draw attention to yourself.
Oh Mr. Snickers bar in the background with the cute lil Kevlar helmet really does look like he’s trying to finish that last bite of a candy bar.
Secondly, my first inclination would be to politely tell the cop pointing that muzzle at my head to please train that rifle off of me in case it may accidently discharge and take my face off.
Good grief. That lil scenario right there is pretty damn disturbing.
There have been several cases before the SC. All have concluded that the police have no obligation to protect the individual. The purpose of the police is to protect the interests of the State. A concept that the boot lickers refuse to accept.
The back story is a cop just got shot and the shooter is on the run.
They do get a *little* antsy under those circumstances...
>>They do get a *little* antsy under those circumstances...<<
I imagine they would, but they picked their line of work. Goin around pointing muzzles in folks face is a pretty messed up thing to do.
The only thing between your head and that projectile is air. Accidental discharges happen all the time, even to cops.
In fact, when the new Glock handguns came on the market, several cops shot themselves in the leg across the nation.
At 5 mpg, it's no wonder. However, it is a small price to pay (at taxpayers' expense) 'cuz if you got it, flaunt it.
Un-freakin’ real Nully! And check out that donut munchin’ gomer lookin’ jackboot on the other side of the car!
I think of them as Officer Chub-up and Officer Chubby.
Navy doesn’t have MOS
