I was 12 then and listening to "Mandrake the Magician", and as usual he was in a tight spot. I was sweating bullets over how he would get out of this one when the announcer broke in with the news - and then kept repeating it.
"OK, OK, the guy is dead, too bad . . .", I fumed (Republican household) ". . . but WHAT happened to Mandrake?". I never did find out due to that blasted announcer, but next week Mandrake was back on, so he must have gotten out OK. I wondered how he did it for weeks after.
“If she waited until next weekend, her announcement would go unnoticed by her closest supporters due to celebrations of the Waco slaughter and preparations for Lenin’s birthday.”
LOL, that’s funny.
The last recording listed is very interesting for a number of reasons, but primarily because they point out that the nation would now have no vice-president until the next election. Few seem to know it, but the founders included no provision for replacing a VP. Of course, that has since been remedied by constitutional amendment.
FDR was such a beloved and great president we passed a constitutional amendment to ensure there were no more 4 termers.

My great aunt worked in the government. The buildings emptied out for the funeral procession on Pennsylvania Avenue. One of her cow-orkers saw her there, and said: “What are YOU doing here?” She said: “I want to be sure he’s really dead!”
EVERYBODY knew FDR engineered us into war. It took the government schools a generation to stamp out that idea.
Reminds me of All In the Family, when Cousin Maude visited....

Archie Bunker: That was for two terms. But that was it. We didn't know the guy was going to hold on to the job like a Pope!
Reread all of the postings in this project, particularly those covering 1941 posted in 2011. FDR did not engineer us into war. The Japanese were more than willing to attack American, Dutch, and British territories, to gain resources to the conquest of China.
Maude: “The man had charisma!” Archie: “I don’t care if he wuz sick!”
He drank a bit, too. But we could have elected a non-drinking, non-smoking vegetarian animal lover who didn't chase women and was a decorated combat veteran to boot.
Also destruction of crops when people were starving.
