Someone please tell me what is with all this obsession about being called a “racist”. If anyone of any ethnic descent is proud of their ancestry, does that make them racist? What is so powerful about that one word that people could be brought to kill one another or commit suicide rather that be called that awful word, which to my knowledge is not illegal.

I think the word “racist” is very often confused with bigotry. Most people have a feeling of pride in their heritage, and most would not want to be anything else. There is no sin in having ethnic pride, and that does not make you a bad person.

If my criticism of Obama, his policies or Michelle’s eating habits is racist, then so be it. If I were to say I despise Obama because he’s half black, which is not the case, I would be a bigot, but being a bigot is not a crime so why should I care if someone calls me “racist”?

I just can’t comprehend the paranoia brought about by that one word.

I just can’t comprehend the paranoia brought about by that one word.

Recall in 2008 when Team Obama strongly hinted race-card threats at Hillary Clinton and she cowered. And in the general election the same toward McCain and he cowered.

It has become a 'litmus test' concept and the Libs/Leftists/Dems use it quite effectively, because they know their friends in the media can paint the opposition with it.

It is part of the political correctness crap that many of those on the Right cower from because they do no know how to effectively counter it. It is part of the majority-of-one concept where one person can complain about something and get it changes.

From what I see, whenever the Right confronts it, the Left usually back off.

It doesn't take much to take down a politician, so they are very sensitive to 'litmus test' items. Recall that utterance of the word 'macaca' took down a sitting senator.
