That was the message from the family of South Carolina police shooting victim Walter Scott to the civil rights activist Thursday two days before the funeral for the slain father of four.
“We don’t want another Ferguson type of circus here,” a source close to the Scott family told The Daily News.
That was a reference to the Missouri town that was rocked by violent demonstrations last year after black teen Michael Brown was killed by a white cop.
Sharpton gave a rousing speech at the 18-year-old’s funeral, which was attended by thousands. Scott family attorney Chris Stewart said they appreciate Sharpton’s support but “the funeral is only going to be close family members.”
Sharpton said he has been in touch with the Scott family and their lawyers but insisted “we had no plans to go down.”

May they find peace and consolation.
Kudos to the family for this, and I’m sorry about their loss. Abuse at the hands of authority knows no color barrier, and when the cops are wrong, they are the criminals and deserving of the full weight of the law.
He could have worked out a deal with the state regarding child support, or he could have hired an attorney and worked out the details with his baby mommas.
I predict a major bombshell will come out in the coming weeks (which will be buried, of course).

Bad cop arrested, no controversial elements to race bait, no witnesses to lie, leadership in community acted quickly...

I believe the Rev had no plans to go there as much as I believe he is not a racist.
There was an article earlier today saying that a family member invited him and he was coming.
Obviously they know Sharpton just wants to climb up on the body of their loved one and use the tragedy to pursue his own agenda and enrich himself.
They are the kind of people that may help to save the nation from being irretrievably torn apart by the race pimps .
I hope they find peace and justice - they deserve it.
Plus the guy was brandishing his back while accelerating from the officer of the law. How come we never hear that?
I have a feeling that they're a cut above the lowlifes we've seen in some of these other high-profile cases. If they keep race out of it and stick to the theme of policing run amok they will do great credit to themselves, as well as doing good things for the country as a whole.
As I've said before, the real scandal here isn't that some cop went off the handle and committed murder. It's the other cops, and even an entire police department who tried to cover for him. That's inexcusable. Heads must roll, and examples must be made.
In this case he could be the second coming of Ted Bundy, and the situation would be the same.
I don’t think there’s a state in this country in which being in arrears on child support is a capital offense.
I thought he also was driving a stolen car? Am I misinformed. Although that is not a capitol offense either.
Although some people here were justifying the brutal beating of a man who took a horse on antiquated laws about hanging horse thieves, back in the day when loss of a horse could mean certain death to owners and their families.
Not so much the case today where in most instances horses are a luxury item

A friend of ours lost his job and fell behind on his child support. His ex-wife went to court to ask that they forgive the back support and suspend his obligation until he found employment.
The ex-wife was informed that child support was something the state would deal with and none of her business.
Instead they put in jail, pulled his contractor license and forbade him to leave the state to find work.
Which of course helped no one but it gave a judge a chance to flex his muscle.
The citizens of the town should send condolence notie to the Scotts, Especially the Catholics. Catholic prayer cards are taken to heart by non Catholics who don’t have religious Chicks on their shoulders.
It was reported earlier here today that Sharpton had been in contact with the faly and he was heading there to “preach” Sunday morning. Anyone else remember that?
The cop had no reason to kill the man.
