AS far as I can tell the Ugly American stereotype is extinct.
It probably once existed in the wake of WWII when we really were on top, but any sense of superiority has pretty much been beaten out of us. Most Americans believe everyone else is better than we are.
What I see now are other nationalities coming over here and demanding to have it like they did in their own countries, and going on incessantly about how much better it is back where they came from. But sadly there is no catchy name for their type.

Plenty Cubans will become prostitutes with all of the new potential customers coming in. If the low pay of Cubans is as reported in the article, then every reasonably cute Cuban girl will be interested in being a tour guide for Westerners.

On my 1st mission trip to Cuba my friend and I ate at a small restaurant in Havana. The bill wasn't very big so thought just a $5 tip would be fair. Our waiter looked to be about 20 and was really thrilled with the tip. How long ago was this, and were you allowed to bring in US currency?
