Yeah.
That is what happened to the EV1, but a bunch of people want to blame some grand conspiracy instead of the realities of EV cars.
Fuel economy keeps improving, an event car now needs to compete with cars that can go five hundred miles on one fillup.
And the range disparity will only increase.

But yes, I do recall rather well when unproductive car lines got the axe due to their lackluster sales.

That is a NEV, or Neighborhood Electric Vehicle. It is not something most people call an electric car. They don't sell in meaningful numbers either. Here is what real electric car sales look like:

Model 2014 Sales Percent
Nissan Leaf 30200 25.45%
Chevrolet Volt 18805 15.84%
Tesla Model S 16550 13.94%
Toyota Prius Plug In 13264 11.18%
Ford Fusion Energi 11550 9.73%
Ford C-Max Energi 8433 7.11%
BMW i3 6092 5.13%
Smart forTwo EV 2594 2.19%
Ford Focus EV 1964 1.65%
Fiat 500E 1503 1.27%
Cadillac ELR 1310 1.10%
Toyota RAV4 EV 1184 1.00%
Chevrolet Spark 1145 0.96%
Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid 879 0.74%
Mercedes B-Class Electric 774 0.65%
BMW i8 555 0.47%
Honda Accord Plug In 449 0.38%
Honda Fit EV 407 0.34%
Kia Soul EV 359 0.30%
VW e-Golf 357 0.30%
Mitsubishi i 196 0.17%
Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid 112 0.09%

Thanks for the info regarding Georgia removing tax credits for EVs, Repeal The 17th.

Now, LogicDesigner, you pinged me to this thread and you posted we can now buy a Volt for $20K after rebates and credits.

I want to know where I can buy one for that price in WA or OR, just give me the name of the dealer and the down and dirty price.

Your posts on this subject are not just that the glass is half full but that it’s overflowing with the love for EVs.

Again, have you donated? :)

You’re welcome to buy that UNION-MADE POS, but most people here are not TOTAL IDIOTS.

Annualize this quarters numbers for the volt and you are looking at 7200 cars. God help GM if Gas keeps falliing.

According to you that just means people are waiting for next year’s model.

“Now, LogicDesigner, you pinged me to this thread...”

You posted in comment #14 before I got here.

“...and you posted we can now buy a Volt for $20K after rebates and credits.”

I'll remind you of what I said, with added emphasis:

“New Volts are being sold for $30,000 and qualify for around $10,000 in rebates, depending on where you live. So you can basically get a new Volt for $20,000.”

WA and OR don't offer state rebates, so residents would be limited to the $7,500 federal rebate. In California, where at least 40% of EVs are sold, there is a $2,500 EV credit. Here in Texas we have a $2,500 credit, Colorado has a $6,000 credit, and Georgia's recently-killed $5,000 credit is good for another three months. These are just a few; to get details on any particular state look here. On that same page you can also see that many states also offer big subsidies for the purchase and installation of garage chargers. Not that you really need one; most Chevy Volt owners just charge overnight with a household plug.

“Your posts on this subject are not just that the glass is half full but that it’s overflowing with the love for EVs.

Again, have you donated? :)”

Do you ask that of everyone or just people you disagree with? Is that accepted practice at FR?

When people push and promote vehicles or businesses that financially benefit Obama and the DNC on a conservative website, it tends to draw....questions.

I did not ping you, you pinged me and that is the point I made about you, you're over the top.

WA and OR don't offer state rebates, so residents would be limited to the $7,500 federal rebate.

I'm fully aware of that but you make broad statements with a small qualifier. You're posting on a forum that covers the entire country buddy and people in the country that don't live in TX could care less.

Again, have you donated?

Do you ask that of everyone or just people you disagree with? Is that accepted practice at FR?

In over nine years you're the first person I've ever asked that of. I've disagreed with many people but you're using this forum to promote a liberal program of subsidies and misrepresenting facts. If you're going to make statements about credits or prices be specific, you're not posting to people that just live in TX or CO.

Your posts remind me of the Shamwa man, copy and paste is good enough for you.

You should at least support the site you're using for some of your BS.

Absolutely, especially when they misrepresent.

Yes, and ignore facts presented to them.
Or pretend that everyone driving electric vehicles would create a magic utopia and somehow crush Russia and stop Iran from developing a nuke.
Nevermind that our electrical generating capacity is shrinking, and that adding millions of electric vehicles would increase demand and increase the cost of electricity.
That on top of Obama’s promise to bankrupt coal and “necessarily skyrocket” electricity cost.

Reminds me of Choo Choo Willie Green and his train obsession.
Got him banned, eventually.

62——Are these sales figures for just the US?

Anyhow my three cents worth-— I still think the electric vehicle market logical area for pioneering would have been fleet sales to delivery companies and taxi outfits. Return to the barn off-duty, have gang charging, a trained maintenance crew and their own breakdown retrieval if necessary. Get the EV learning curve down that way.

Electric Vehicle obsessed troll that kept pushing government subsidy programs and vehicles that financially benefit the Democrats at any rate.
I.E. Volt, Tesla (Musk is an Obamaboy), and argued that the subsidy of taxpayer money is a wunnerful thing.
Whoever he was before, he still is an idiot in the vein of Choo Choo Willie.
I still like his claim that everyone driving electric vehicles would somehow magically stop Iran from building a nuke.

That Iran/nuke shtick of his was a real hoot.

I’d still like to know how he expected EV’s here to have an impact on Iran as we get nothing from Iran, in any way shape or form.
And our imports from Russia are miniscule, lack of exporting to us wouldn’t hurt them at all.
*Shrugs*

But it was quite amusing to see the repeated claim that EV’s here would somehow magically stop Iran.
