'He should die in prison': Senator Elizabeth Warren speaks out against the death penalty

Tsarnaev, 21, was found guilty Wednesday on all 30 charges related to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing

His case will now proceed to the penalty stage, in which the jury will decide whether to sentence him to life in prison or execution

Reflecting her state's liberal politics, Warren is against capital punishment

Warren also spoke about current party issues - but refused to compare her politics to those of likely presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Warren has repeatedly said she will not be running for president in 2016

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren says she's relieved Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been found guilty of carrying out the Boston bombing - the greatest tragedy in her state's recent history - but doesn't believe he should be executed.

In an interview with CBS This Morning on Thursday, Warren reacted to Wednesday's jury verdict which found the 21-year-old guilty on all 30 charges related to the Boston Marathon explosions which killed three and injured hundreds at the finish line.

'Nothing is ever going to make those who were injured whole and it's been a terrible thing but this is a step toward justice,' Warren said.

When asked what she would like to see happen in the penalty stage of the trial, liberal-minded Warren stuck by her anti-death penalty stance.

'My heart goes out to the families here but I don't support the death penalty. I think that he should spend his life in jail - no possibility of parole - he should die in prison. But that's just how I see it. It's up to the jury,' she said.

Key thing in her statement is “He should die in prison”. Well, Mass. residents will pay for his HC, housing, college, room and board for the next 60 years. Meanwhile the people he killed are still dead, and the people he crippled for life have no one to pay for their medical bills, time lost, housing, room and board. It’s a shame in the US we treat criminals better than the victims

As long as he’s alive, so too is the possibility of Obama or his successors pardoning him. Which I wouldn’t put past Obama at the end of his term as one final act of insolence.

Of course if anyone of his ilk were to be found within a mile of her million dollar (plus) mansion in Cambridge she'd expect the (stupid) Cambridge Police to arrive guns-a-blazing.

I say we use lingchi, the “death of a thousand cuts”, where they remove parts of his body slowly, over a period of days or weeks, until he finally succumbs. It would be appropriate, as the imperial Chinese used it as a punishment for mass murder.

“Life in prison” makes for the perfect Dem citizen. Everything they do is controlled by the government- all their life.
They get what the government decides is best for them and can do only what the government thinks they should.

It’s a Democrat’s heaven on Earth.

Hey, Lizzie, given the death penalty, he will die in prison. On to Terre Haute.

Bernard Shaw: So Governor: would you support the death penalty if Kitty Dukakis was raped and murdered?

Dukakis: No, why would I want the death penalty? It wouldn't bring my wife back.

Massachusetts liberals are SO f'd up.

Abortion, by all means, the more painful the better for an innocent human.

Death penalty, why heavens no! We are civilized. We show compassion to those who kill.

I listened to Dennis Prager this morning. He was recalling a conversation on Fox, where the bomber envied his brother for dying. Someone said that it was more cruel to have to live the rest of his life in prison, if what he wanted to do was die.

Prager was not concerned about cruelty in payment for his crime, but what was just. The bomber in cold blood killed people. He does not get to live since they are now dead at his hands. He must be killed because that would deliver justice for his victims.

He said that liberals look at this with their hearts and not their minds.

They want to have executions on TV, thinking that would sway people against capital punishment.

Prager suggested that there be a live re-enactment on TV of how the victims were killed. It would be, in part, however, to see the last humiliating moments of them crying in agony or begging for their lives, but it would show people, the realty of taking someone’s life with evil intent.

Isn’t it too cruel to have them die in prison? It would be far less cruel better if they are executed.

He should die in prison

I agree entirely. He should die in prison as quickly as possible.

The only question is whether he should die in prison strapped to an electric chair, hanging from a rope, or standing against a wall in front of a firing squad.

Is Elizabeth Warren going to buy his groceries, do his laundry, and pay for his recreation and entertainment until he does?

If he really wants to off himself and save taxpayers the cost of his execution he can find a way.

But only after years of concussions, broken femurs. jaws and ribs. I don't understand the urgency.

Reflecting her state's liberal politics,

The people of Massachusetts, through initiative petition, ok'd the DP for certain crimes. The criminal political class has used a variety of techniques not to implement the will of the people. One of them happened to have a serial killing mobster brother that buried victims on state lands.
