Walmart's right to sell firearms and ammunition is being threatened by a lawsuit.
Fox Business Network reporter Adam Shapiro reported on "Fox and Friends First" this morning that a court decision could stop the retail giant from selling guns, which could change the way publicly traded companies do business in the United States.
Shapiro said that Trinity Wall Street Church in New York City owns stock in Walmart.
"The church sued the Walmart when they refused to place a proposal on the shareholder ballot at the annual company meeting," he explained. "That proposal could be interpreted to force Walmart's board of directors to suspend the sale of guns and ammunition."

They can still be cheaper grade. If the manufacturers make multiple grade distributors can sell them. I don’t know if they’re getting cheaper grade, but I also don’t want to find out, because the only way to find out sucks.
And yet, they could make a LOT MORE money off ammo, if they wanted to.
For a long time, the shelves were bare of ALL handgun ammunition, unless you got lucky and happened to be around when they received stock. It's still that way for .22 LR.
I'll probably never know whether to blame good P.R. or bad management. But, either way, it encourages hoarding.
Usually the difference is in the stock and finishes, not in the metal parts. As an example Marlin’s classic 30-30 lever action is offered just before hunting season at low prices in a variety of chain stores. But they have stained birch stocks instead of walnut. But it’s the same Marlin regardless of the store or chain. Same distributors the sole owner shops use.
A lot of folks see them as working tools not safe queens.

Mine aren’t in a safe. They get used, though mostly as entertainment.
I’ve just been burned (freezer burned in some cases) by WM too many times. I don’t trust them for any product that might kill me if it sucks.
I doubt walmart would leave an opening for another store to open in small town America.
Wallmart needs a dead mainstreet.
oh, I know what they’re doin’ alright
how many activists try and put crackpot motions on shareholder meeting agendas?
If a vegan owns ONE share of mcdonalds do they get to have a McD must go vegan motion on the agenda?
Our Walmart stopped selling guns years ago.
The story is unclear and incomplete for sure, and probably over inflated. Just because you own a few shares of stock does not entitle you to determine the business direction. For that you need a controlling interest — which means you own a lot of stock, or have a lot of proxies.
IMHO, the headline is “click bait” — purely and simply. Even if the proposal should be placed on the agenda, there’s no way the shareholders would approve it.
They will pull the guns out. And fill the empty shelf space with marijuana
Right now they’re just pushing a ban on ‘assault weapons’ and high capacity magazines, but if Wallyworld caves, I’m sure they’ll get around to a complete ban on guns and ammo eventually.

Trinity originally sought to get the proposal on Walmart’s 2014 annual meeting proxy materials, but the church was blocked after the SEC agreed with Walmart that it could bar the proposal because it relates to products sold at the store. But the case moved forward after Trinity filed suit with the U.S. District Court in Delaware, which ruled that the proposal doesn’t interfere with day-to-day operations.
I don’t live in Cali. I live in a Southern state. In the Midwest it’s the same, guns and ammo galore. Except for .22 rim fire of course.
The walmart I worked for stopped selling guns after Katrina. Now they are back at it. My relative in Nebraska says his walmart still sells guns and ammo. I know the walmarts in Indiana and Ohio do too. Hunting country.
Walmart could corner the cell phone market if they were sensible. That came from a guy I knew who was a cell phone rep.
We don’t buy firearms or ammo at Walmart anyway.
After 2008 I was buying ammo there. I got a 10% employee discount and the guys and girls in the sports section looked out for me. CCI blazer brass was 8.69, without the 10% discount, not to mention I stocked up on .22. I’ve only bought one weapon at Walmart, a Crickett Youth Rifle.
I like to shoot CCI Maxi Mags in my Keltec PMR 30. They are really getting pricey. We usually try to cruise Pro Bass and one of our local gun shops to pick up a box or two. They limit it to two boxes now. If they even have them.
The Walmart near us does not carry guns and has a real no frills ammo case which is usually almost empty.
