Why would Rand Paul say that?
American Thinker ^ | April 8, 2015 | Thomas Lifson

I really want to like Rand Paul, but he keeps saying things that give me pause. I like that he wants to fight the GOP establishment. I like that he wants to roll back big government. And I like that he wants to expand the base to include more young people and minorities. (There are some very worrisome things he’s said about foreign policy, but we’ll put that aside, as those views seem to be “evolving.”)

I didn’t listen to his Louisville campaign announcement speech yesterday, but Paul Mirengoff of Powerline did, and he noticed something that has really got me worried:

In his speech, Paul stated:

I see an America where criminal justice is applied equally and any law that disproportionately incarcerates people of color is repealed.

As John [Hinderaker] points out, pretty much every criminal law disproportionately incarcerates African-Americans, from murder on down. Thus, Paul sees an America where, at most, only white collar offenses are against the law — in other words, an essentially lawless America.

Perhaps this is a bastardized version of “disparate impact” thinking – that practices that disproportionately impact minorities (for example, civil service examinations) are subject to strict scrutiny. But does anyone think laws against murder don’t pass strict scrutiny? Or rape? Or armed robbery? All of these laws disproportionately incarcerate blacks. And that is not because the law discriminates in enforcement.

My guess is that Sen. Paul was thinking about drug laws, which he famously opposes. But that isn’t what he said...

{snip}

We can expect more of this modification of embarrassing rhetoric, leading to the inference that Rand Paul is not yet ready for prime time.

No. If you check , it was the Panama Canal Zone. It was a US territory deemed US soil by Statute, Check it out. Canada has never been deemed a US teritory yey and neither is Kenya.

You are right but Congress waived the power they had by allowing 94 Presidential agreements to stand as treaties unchallenged. Senator Paul and Corker wisely seek to reassert the power of Congress that the Congress has squandered on political laziness and expedience.

Better check on what you wrote, since McLame wasn't born on the Navel Base, and ALL children, who are born outside of this nation, whose parent/s are American citizens, are considered to be one as well, as long as said parent/s meet the age and residence restrictions...which Mrs. Cruz did.

Are you claiming that wee barry was born in Kenya?

Hillary isn't going to be the Dem presidential nominee for '16.

There is NO way that Rand is going to be the GOP presidential nominee for '16, so quoting these early polls is worse than moot.

And talking about "prejudice"; yours are terminal and blinding you top reality.

You will have to direct that comment to Bush supporters.

I am not one of them.

I beg to differ on your wrong understanding of the Constitution. The requirement of “ Natural Born” in Article two is “on US soil”. That is why you and all freepers tried to disqualify omana who was born in Kenya. Remember? I guess you said you didn’t care if he was foreign born.
What those who love Cruz must do is to urge him to get SCOTUS clarification on “Natural Born”. The founding fathers didn’t say “Citizen” they said “natural born” citizen. You see the difference now. I just heard that Rand Paul is leading Hillary in Virginia — Iowa and Colorado!! This is beyond wonderful. THANK YOU GOD!!

Rand is NOT Tea Party; he pretended to be, but he isn’t !
Like his father, he’s a RINO.....Libertarian posing as a GOP to get elected.

Retread banned FReeper, are ya ? Your signup is '14, so you weren't here when wee barry was first running, or you had a different nic.

I was NEVER a "birther", never claimed that wee barry was "born in Kenya", DO care about what and who he is, AND knew long before most just what he really is and why, because I once lived in Chicago and know and understand far more about all of that than you ever shall.

I get it you're a Paulinista; your posts are therefore true to form of you and your ilk.

The polls you quoted are meaningless......and sans that poll, everyone, INCLUDING HILLARY AND HER TEAM, knows that she's in trouble.

GOD won't give you what you so passionately desire, a Paul presidency.

WE used to agree a great deal of the time and I, likewise, have enjoyed reading your posts.

I watched Kelly tonight ( I don't always watch her show ) and her opening had NO "ALERT"; though it did have a 'BREAKING NEWS" start, because there was "breaking news". np
