Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) – the first Republican hopeful to put his name forward – has long maintained that only by mobilizing the conservative grassroots can the GOP hope to reclaim the White House in 2016. He has explicitly said that primary-goers looking for a candidate that will toe the party line, and buckle to the whims of the establishment, should look elsewhere. As a result, he has pledged not to fund his campaign with funds obtained from lobbyists or crony capitalists, and therefore must tap into the generosity and support of ordinary Americans to get his campaign off the ground.

And from Bloomberg:

"Even in the context of a presidential campaign cycle in which the major party nominees are expected to raise more than $1.5 billion, Cruz’s haul is eye-popping, one that instantly raises the stakes in the Republican fundraising contest.

Although super-PACs have radically changed the pace at which committees backing presidential candidates can raise money, the Cruz haul is remarkable. There are no known cases in which an operation backing a White House hopeful has collected this much money in less than a week.

Those involved in the Cruz super-PACS say many of his biggest financial backers haven’t yet made contributions to the new organizations and are expected to do so in the coming months. By law, super-PACS can accept unlimited contributions from individuals."

http://www.nationaljournal.com/2016-elections/ted-cruz-s-presidential-campaign-launch-destroyed-rand-paul-s-on-facebook-20150408

From National Journal

“Despite all the digital sophistication—and a few missteps—propping up his presidential campaign, Rand Paul is already lagging on Facebook behind one of his biggest rivals: Ted Cruz.

Cruz, who formally launched his White House bid last month, attracted nearly three times as much buzz—measured in likes, posts, comments, and shares—on Facebook during the 24-hour window surrounding his announcement as Paul, who announced on Tuesday.”

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/04/06/exclusive-inside-ted-cruzs-campaign-hq-how-texas-firebrand-plans-to-win-by-breaking-all-the-rules/

From Breitbart:

“First off, Roe noted, Cruz waited until the end of a Federal Election Commission (FEC) fundraising quarter to announce he was running—meaning he had a lot less time to pull in big bucks to show off his viability as a candidate.

“The last person who announced the same time [in a quarter] that we announced was Tim Pawlenty [in 2012]. Pawlenty raised $160,000 in the first nine days of his presidential campaign. We did that within about the first 9 minutes of his speech,” Roe said.

That theme—break all the rules—permeates Cruz’s campaign and team.

“We view this race completely differently than most do,” Roe said. “If it’s a rule that’s in place, we want to break it.”

In addition, Cruz’s team is aiming to hire key grassroots activists in major states around the country to build a groundswell of support for his presidential campaign, rather than bring in political insiders. That way, in each key state, Cruz has devoted and loyal supporters fighting for him and his message, rather than just for a paycheck.

“What we are doing is we are hiring activists in these states,” Roe said. “We have activists who believe in the campaign who people in these local communities trust.”

and ‘“The last thing I would say is we are building a campaign not with data as a resource, but with data as the central point of our decision making,” Roe said, noting that Team Cruz isn’t going about data the way normal campaigns do.

“We’re baking data into everything we do, into how we are going to engage each individual donor and voter in the process to see how they’re going to be able to get the message of our campaign,” Roe said.

Roe noted that the campaign is taking messages of what voters want to hear about right to their doorsteps, using issue ID to figure out what it is they care about most then convincing them that Cruz has the best solution to their needs. It’s very business-like, almost like a sales pitch, aimed at engaging voters to find a way to sell them on how Cruz is the best product in the 2016 field. They are working to define the largely-undefined Cruz to primary and general election voters in a way that they expect will help them see that Cruz is the best available decision they can make. Essentially, if someone wants to discuss Obamacare instead of tax cuts, Roe said, then Cruz’s team will talk to them about Obamacare. That doesn’t mean Cruz isn’t strong on tax cuts, too, but talking to voters about what they are interested in hearing about makes convincing them to eventually vote for him when the time comes much easier.

“So the engagement of those voters is how we’re approaching this—not just talking at them with what we want to say, but communicate with them about what they want to talk about,” Roe said.”

From The Hill:

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/238226-cruz-pacs-announce-massive-fundraising-haul

“Republican strategist Karl Rove has said candidates will need to raise at least $50 million to make it through the primaries, putting Cruz well on his way. Cruz’s early entrance into the presidential field has also given him a significant polling bump and vaulted him into the top tier of GOP contenders.”

I can’t even imagine why this is happening.

Perhaps donors don't want to waste their money on vanity candidates this time.

Aside from Ted Cruz, the whole pack of GOP-e hopefuls are vanity candidates, bless their little hearts.

From Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2015/04/07/during-his-announcement-rand-paul-was-raising-24-per-second/

“Paul raised about $228,000 over the course of that six-hour period, with fundraising taking a distinct upturn in the wake of his live-streamed campaign announcement.

To put that into a more tangible metric, Paul’s fundraising peaked at about $24 a second — about $86,000 per hour — right as he was finishing up his speech.

This compares Rand Paul’s fundraising with his father, Ron Paul’s efforts with graphs and how much Cruz raised.

“To put that into a more tangible metric, Paul’s fundraising peaked at about $24 a second — about $86,000 per hour — right as he was finishing up his speech.

So how does that compare with his father’s efforts? Ron Paul’s most successful money bomb raised about $6 million dollars. If you look at the amount raised during those two efforts as a per-second average, Rand trails by a wide margin. And this is Rand Paul’s highest period of fundraising versus Ron Paul’s 24-hour average.

The day isn’t over. In the half hour since we stopped looking at Paul’s fundraising, we added another $30,000, his third-best 30 minutes of the day. He’ll have a number of other media appearances over the next few hours, and the amount will continue to increase. In the 24 hours after his launch, Ted Cruz raised a reported $500,000. Paul should top that.

(Update: Later reports indicate that Cruz raised a million dollars. That’s a higher bar for Paul.)

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-04-07/rand-paul-and-the-art-of-the-presidential-money-bomb

How Rand Paul intends to raise money:

“Rand Paul and the Art of the Presidential Money Bomb
Apr 7, 2015 2:45 AM MST
He money-bombed his way to a U.S. Senate seat and now hopes this fundraising technique blasts him through the GOP presidential primary.

“On April 7th, I’m launching a ‘Stand with Rand’ Money Bomb,” a pledge page for one of his political action committees reads. “So I’m counting on you to stand with me by pledging your most generous contribution to this effort. The political world’s eyes will be trained on me and it’s crucial I make a statement no one can ignore.”

This is a familiar playbook. Flash back to August 20, 2009. Paul, an ophthalmologist with a famous libertarian father, began his long-shot campaign for a U.S. Senate seat by asking supporters to contribute small amounts online. He sought additional online help a few weeks later, as his Republican primary opponent Trey Grayson held a $500-per-plate fundraiser in Washington, filled with sitting senators and blessed by Republican leadership. “This deck stacking favoritism in a highly contested GOP primary is unacceptable,” Paul wrote on Kentuckyfight.com, the website promoting the fundraising match...

Paul now hopes his money bombs blast him into the top tier of what will be a crowded Republican presidential primary field. The online portfolio he inherited from his father and refined in that 2010 Senate run could help him compete for dollars with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, whose early goal is to raise $100 million, and other probable contenders like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

What we are seeing I think is the beginning of a revolution, it is so because a leader has emerged.

I have been thinking and saying a peaceful revolution was no longer in the cards; I am more than happy to be wrong.

CRUZ 2016! Pray America, the safety of Cruz, his family and those closest to his campaign.

Him and his foxnews whiteboard credibility got severly dinged by the willard fiasco. Fundraising may be somewhat harder this time.
