There is fraud but Republicans have no business playing food police.

If Battin wants to keep junk food off people’s tables, let him set the example for his own family.

And keep his nose out of other people’s shopping decisions. I hate fascist bullies, whether they’re on the Left or on the Right.

I don’t like government managing my personal life for me. We have enough government micromanaging in this country already.

Don’t want to have someone telling you what you can and cannot buy to eat? Then pay for it with your money NOT mine.

“There is fraud but Republicans have no business playing food police.”

Okay, who else is going to police the fraud?

“If Battin wants to keep junk food off people’s tables, let him set the example for his own family.”

It’s not about “junk food”, it’s about fraud. If people are buying “junk food” with these benefits, they obviously don’t need the benefits.

“And keep his nose out of other people’s shopping decisions. I hate fascist bullies, whether they’re on the Left or on the Right.”

When people applied for public assistance in this area, they made their shopping decisions the public’s business. This is not “fascism”, this is our elected representatives trying to be good stewards of the public purse that they are entrusted with.

“I don’t like government managing my personal life for me.”

Then rely on yourself and don’t come begging at the government’s doorstep.

And the government has no business giving people free money to buy whatever food they want, but it happens anyway.

And keep his nose out of other people’s shopping decisions. I hate fascist bullies, whether they’re on the Left or on the Right.

How is this fascist behavior? I'm guessing you have no problems with all the government strings attached to highway funds and education money, so why would you have a problem with limitations on free food money? This isn't the government controlling any businesses, this is the government giving out free money (confiscated from the taxpayers) and simply saying you can't spend it on certain things. If I'm going to be giving anything away for free, there's no reason I can't set limits on the use of the free stuff. Or, they don't have to accept it.

It's not a matter of diet. It's a matter of buying non-essentials.

My mother was a supermarket cashier back in the 1950s and 60s. She used to tell tales of people with food stamps coming through the checkout with carts full of top-of-the-line porterhouse and delmonico steaks. Meanwhile, my dad was working for the railroad, making maybe $10 or so an hour, and we were eating hamburger. And my parents’ tax dollars were paying for those fancy steaks. Does that seem right to you?

Obviously by your comment you think you are entitled to steak and lobster on someone else’s dime.
