Reports say Saudi Arabia has dispatched paratroopers to southern Yemen to help the forces loyal to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Local media said late on Monday that Saudi aircraft airdropped the paratroopers as well as arms cargos to the port city of Aden and parts of neighboring Ad Dali' Province.
The official said that the army and naval special forces have provided the militants in Yemen with coordination and guidance against popular committees.
Ansarullah fighters have taken over state matters, citing the inability of Hadis former government to properly run the affairs of the country and contain terror and corruption.
Popular committees backed by Ansarullah fighters are continuing their advances despite the Saudi attacks while also stepping up their fight against al-Qaeda terrorists and secured many areas from the militants.
An actual parachute assault?
No sense having them, if you’re not going to use them.
Brings to mind many humorous images.
Looks like a God-forsaken hell hole.
Looks more like the Blue Man Group.
Bear in mind that this is a news source run by the government of Iran.
Yea,I just found this out!
It’s about time the Saudis were sending their own troops to fight their wars, instead of engaging the US military as their mercenaries and having the war fought FOR them. That is how we got stuck in Iraq - the Saudis were funding the US military in part, because they could rely on the Family Bush to be on their side.
But the Current Occupant is nowhere nearly as reliable a partner to Saudi Arabia today, preferring instead to side with the people who are RESISTING the Saudis, the Islamic Republic of Iran.
And no doubt about it, Current Occupant has gone over onto the side of the Iranians. Look how he defended the right of the Iranians to develop nuclear weaponry, and even lifted virtually all the sanctions so they could proceed.
Iran is an existential threat to the Saudis. And they are uncomfortably close.
I envision a Camel with an extra big back-pack hump in a transport at 12k feet saying, “ O yea Achmed! I don’t THINK so!”
But thats just wrong...
I figured as much. I should have crossed referenced it with debka.com, another reliable source.
Well, it is HUMP DAY over in the litter box.
The pic shows a couple ship deck crewmen, an air-crewman and a shoeshine boy. The “paratroopers” have no guns or parachutes, and look like they are doing a scene with Bill Murray in the movie “Stripes”.
Good. This fight is the muslims’ fight.
Let them have at it.
The King should deploy a few regiments of Artillery (155mm & 8” (if they still have them)) and employ them in the direct fire mode. It is heartening to know that the Sunni soldiers will not be hampered by the same type of absurd rules of engagement that our soldiers are.
I was stationed at the US Embassy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia 30+ years ago. I had a good friend who was a CIA paramilitary officer. His job was training the Saudis on the arms that we had procured for them. He also taught them how to jump out of RSAF C-130s. I hope that they have improved over the last few decades to where they can successfully engage ISIS and AQAP.
I think they’re a little bit better and my guess is that the typical (Saudi, Egyptian, Jordanian) Sunni animus for all things Shiite will give some impetus to their military efforts. My personal feeling is that if they’re fighting each other and we don’t have to do it, all the better. As long as the KSA is not destabilized because IMO anything that replaces it will be worse.
From your keyboard to God’s screen, bro.
Lots of activty going on in Yemen...yesterday
