I fall asleep before the flush kicks in. After taking Niacin for a long time, the flush goes away.

Thanks for the reply...and for figuring out “200 in” was meant to be “200 lb” ..(dumb smart phone). I imagine a 16.6 ft tall man would need even more D3...grin.

-——but it went away when you reduced it to 5,000-—

No, not exactly

Walmart sold 2,000 unit gel caps. I took 2 or 4,000 until flu season began and then took three. I learned that was better than 4,000. I learned that with 6,000 no hacking.

Then I went back to buy more and Walmart now had 5,000 iu gel caps but not the usual two pack of 2,000 iu gel caps. I bought them and they were adequate as the 6.000 units so that is what I take.

Walmart does not know what’s best but do know what people buy.

I see these 3 amounts in statements from link you provided, all are over 100 mcg.

The optimal amounts of vitamin K2 are still under investigation, but it seems likely that 180 to 200 micrograms of vitamin K2 should be enough to activate your body’s K2-dependent proteins to shuttle the calcium where it needs to be, and remove it from the places where it shouldn’t.

While the ideal or optimal ratios between vitamin D and vitamin K2 have yet to be elucidated, Rheume-Bleue suggests about 150-200 micrograms of K2 will meet the need for the “average” healthy person.

“My earlier recommendation was not taking into account people who were doing high dose of vitamin D supplementation,” Rheaume-Bleue says. “That’s where it gets a little bit more technical. It seems that for the average person, around 200 to 280 micrograms will activate your K2 proteins and do a lot of good for your bones and your heart. If you’re taking high levels of vitamin D... then I would recommend taking more K2.”

The good news is that vitamin K2 has no toxicity. No toxic effects have ever been demonstrated in the medical literature.

I am guessing at 300 mcg of K2 mk7 daily for 5000 iu of D3 (with oil for absorption). 1 tablespoon Cod liver daily, but haven’t looked at olive oil yet instead of Cod Liver oil. Thoughts...comments anyone?

Yes and coconut oil has other benefits too. Maybe a tablespoon of all 3 cod, olive, coconut oils.

I do that, too. I never cared for going to the doctor and did not except when I got scraped up off the road a few times and got a knee replacement. I started self medicating for some things, prostate, arthritis, early macular degeneration, etc, and of course virus and colds. Things happen when you get old. My results are such that I don’t get a hankering to go see the doctor. Those fellows just want to give you drugs that have lots of fine print.

I also take 5 supplements on a regular basis. People are always thinking I’m younger than I am. Bet the same happens with you.

Yep - I also take some supplements and folks are very surprised to find out my real age. Having a shaved head to hide the gray makes me look even younger.

I don't ride bike, but I use heavy resistance with the bowflex and do some dumbell and resistance band exercises to round things off. I do some "hybrid" V pushups by using my wife's step aerobics step so I can hold the edges of it (both narrow and wide) and with my butt in the air, I lower my head over the back edge and then press up - it helps me isolate my pecs by being able to apply some "squeeze" pressure while pushing up and takes some of the stress off my elbow joints - I started early and not smart so I managed to overstress most of my joints and have to be careful to keep them healthy..

You have the same kinds of issues as I do. So I’d be interested to hear what set of otc nutritional supplements you use.

True, but I'm skeptical when told that a certain level is either "good" or "bad". These guys ["scientists"] have a way of changing their minds.

Meanwhile, I'm sure Moochelle will decree that we all must abide by whatever the latest lib "guidelines" say.

Bumping this thread in case some people missed it. This is an important topic. There was also another recent (keyword) Vitamin D thread. I’ve really been studying this. I’m getting my vitamin regimen more tuned up.
