The US State Department has rejected Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s call to condition any final deal with Iran over its nuclear program on the Iranian regime recognizing the State of Israel.

During a Saturday press conference State Dept. spokeswoman Marie Harf abruptly rejected the suggestion, stating “this is an agreement that is only about the nuclear issue.”

“This is an agreement that doesn’t deal with any other issues, nor should it,” Harf added. …

Valley girl Harf needs to develop a conscience if she wants to be respected. I realize she is only spouting Obama Admin talking points, but people see through her. And she is too stupid/naive to know it.

Iran’s demand apparently is considered non-negotiable.

Israel’s demand on the other hand, gets in the way of “peace in our time.”

Asking Iran to behave like a normal, civilized country would jeopardize the deal Obama craves, so we can’t have it.

We can’t afford any more “peace in our time” the stakes are too high. Think WWII with only one nuclear power was bad? Well said!

Seems the terrorist ask in Kenya students to recite Muslim prayers or die.

I did hear anyone ask if the could get a job they wouldn't have killed Christians on good Friday.

The US’s betrayal of Israel is now final- What a shameful time we’re living in

Israel needs to come out and declare that they REJECT the US Iran deal and if they even think Iran is heading towards a nuclear bomb, they will take that as a SERIOUS threat to their national security and they WILL attack Iran alone- since it is now apparent the US has betrayed her

I generally back Netanyahu, but here I disagree. To hell with Iran’s thoughts on Israel.

What really matters is that Iran is not allowed to develop nuclear weapons. If they are blocked there, Israel is safe even if Iran does want it destroyed.

So I would not tie together demands one way or anther regarding Israel here. Just block Iranian development of nuclear weapons.

What we are winding up with though, by all accounts, is a situation where Iran will be allowed the bomb as well as spout that Israel must be destroyed.

That is the double-whammy that cannot stand!

THAT is totally unacceptable!

I think he was putting Obama to the test here, just to have it on the record. Any chance of Iran recognizing Israel is about the same as “Palestine” doing so, never mind other Arab/Islamic nations in the region.

Making the point is rational. I’ll give him that, so I agree with you.

Here’s the kicker for me.

Iran agrees to stop it’s nuclear bomb program, allow full inspections and comply with U. S. and Western demands. It still refuses to recognize Israel.

The deal is thus thwarted.

Is that a situation we would like to see?

As much as I support Israel, that wouldn’t be serving it’s best interests.

I realize Iran is not going to comply with any of this, so the point is mute. Still, on point I disagree with the linkage. I just want Iran to be prevented from developing the bomb.

Iran will never agree to stop its nuclear weapons program. The point was to show Obama’s true colors for those who are still blind.

I agree with you on the first part, but I think reasoned people will probably recognize linkage would be counter-productive. Thus it gives Obama an out.

I support Israel stridently, but if I were seeking to stop Iran’s nuclear program, I would not link this issue.

Iran has wanted Israel gone for decades. Without the bomb that hasn’t been a problem. (I will note that Iran resupplied Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon, so that isn’t entirely without downside.)

I understand your point of view on this. Just stating my thoughts on it.

Bibi should just quit trying to win favor with an idiot who has never been on the side of Israel, on the side of the god of Israel. Bibi has class but it can only go so far. Stop rubbing your face in the sand Bibi. The feckless one in the white house does not deserve a second of your time. Leave it alone and stop trying to gain his worthless recognition you don’t need and is absolutely useless. Tell him to go pound sand in Hawaii. Stay silent until 2016, let the fool show his idiotic foolishness, you will look like a prince.
