What I told my stepmom today. We are both Calif ex-pats.

Told her no way all the rich swells that pay $50k a year in club dues are going to golf on a course that is not pristine and green. Conservation is for the little people.

Someone driving through Palm Desert and Palm Springs should get some cell phone video of the greens being watered thoroughly. Post it here and send it to the LAT.

Having lived around Sacramento, something I could never understand was why they were growing rice in what amounted to a semi desert.
Huge amounts of water for a very low value crop. I can under stand irrigation for growing Avocado’s, Almonds etc, but flooding thousands of acres to grow rice at a couple of bucks for a 10 pound sack was idiotic. Thats what Louisiana is for.

The house I lived in with my parents and brother on Long Island, New York, in the 1950’s, our tiny tract house HAD NO SHOWER. We all bathed (separately!) in the tub, and not daily. I don’t remember having a problem using the ONE bathroom - meaning possibly having a ‘schedule’ of sorts for each family member. We didn’t.

Wonder when and why this daily shower came about. And who said we’re ‘supposed to’ bath daily???! Ultimately it’s nobody’s business.
Clean hands and face are nice, tho.

Another thing - we wore clothes more than once if they looked okay - no throwing every piece of clothing into the soiled clothes bin just because.
Sometimes with warnings like ‘Don’t get your clothes dirty because it’s a week until wash day.’

Maybe one reason is we didn’t have clothes washers like we do today. Super fancy ones now. Many had no auto clothes washers at all - scrub board and laundry sink for washing clothes. And having to hang clothes in the freezing winter and watch them stiffen on the line! No clothes DRYers, either.
So we’ve gotten used to wearing clean clothes daily.
I’m betting some families think it’s downright sinful if one doesn’t shower daily - - -

The younger generation probably thinks the way we lived ‘back in the day’ was crazy, stupid, and shocking. Bad attitude for drought areas. I am in CA.

One of my Scottish-born grandfather’s jokes was, he took a bath every Saturday night whether he needed it or not!

We bought a new washer a year ago. The old GE 7 cu ft top loader finally gave up the ghost. The wife bought a new front loader, now that they are almost reasonably priced, and we got some EPA credit for a couple of hundred. The next water bill was stunning. It was actually two third less. Essentially the new washer will have saved enough in a year and a half to pay for itself.

Now we have had kids come and go to school and there has never been a noticeable difference due to showers. So the truth is shower time makes no difference whatsoever.

Brown is an idiot for making these kind of statements. Well he is an idiot anyways, but he should concentrate on the big things not the little things.

God, I get sick of hearing that line. “Oh, parts of California are beautiful ...” Who gives a shyte? Hell may have a scenic overlook, but I doubt the view is worthy of the destination.

I'm concerned Jim Robinson, the owner of FR, is in the shower too long. How will Gov. Brown KNOW Jim is in the shower beyond his limited time in the shower? And, what is the time he can stay in there without fearing a fine and jail time? Anyone know the amount of time Jim can stay in his shower?

Golly, gee, I am so worried Jim will be taken from us due to his shower time. Jim, if you read this, do you want me to send a bottle of water for your shower? We could each pitch in and send a bottle of water. Just tell us where to mail the water. :o)
