Indiana success inspires gay rights activists around the country

INDIANAPOLIS – Gay rights advocates are hoping to parlay the momentum from their legislative victories in Indiana and Arkansas into further expanding legal protections for gays and lesbians in those states and others.

Facing widespread pressure, including from big businesses such as Apple and Wal-Mart, lawmakers in Indiana and Arkansas last week rolled back their states’ new religious objections laws, which critics said could be used to discriminate against gays. Amid the uproar, the Republican governors of Michigan and North Dakota urged their own legislatures to extend anti-discrimination protections to gays.

States need to get laws on the books to prevent Christian businesses from harassment by sodomites and their enablers on the left...harsh penalties need to be put in place.

Dream on! You see what just happened in the states that tried. And other states won’t even attempt it, including my own—where the overwhelmingly GOP majority refused to vote on the issue as the “rights” crowd and their corporate enablers cackled in glee.

I would think existing law is adequate.

Rather than refuse, quote a very very high price for a Queer Cake

LOL. I doubt they can afford any more “victories” like that. They need to realize to flood of support on this occasion may not be monetary in the future!

Today, especially, I remember a man who took a whip to the money hangers. For years after I first met Him I felt I was too immature in the Faith to indulge in anger. I am maturing, lately.

"Gay rights advocates are hoping to parlay the momentum from their legislative victories in Indiana and Arkansas into further expanding legal protections for gays and lesbians..."

All right, this is really starting to get ridiculous! As a heterosexual male, gay guys have always creeped me out but I have never advocated for discriminating against them in any form other than I don't want to hang around with them. From the tone of their current argument you would think that we as straight people were rounding gay people up and marching them off to death camps. This is absolute nonsense. The only thing I'm requesting of the Gay community is to GET A FLIPPING ROOM!

Compromise or accommodation does nothing but embolden homosexuals and other ‘Progressives’ to up their demands.

How long before they demand mandatory homosexual training of childre in all schools?

How long before they demand the right to have sex with minors?

Ayn Rand: “In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.”

I once knew someone in the insurance industry.

Insurance companies utilize a number of legal & accepted methods for arriving at their rates, the ‘very high’ rates for insurance being referred to as ‘go-away prices’.

Hint, hint.

Those that would pay the ‘very high’ price just to attempt to corrupt would then be served with the cliche’ comment made by Fred Thompson’s character from the movie ‘Days of Thunder’, re ‘Japanese Inspection’:
“I’m sorry, it’s taking a bit longer than we thought to make that very complicated cake. We won’t be able to make your deadline. Here’s your deposit. Have a nice day.”

Business ‘is business’. Many need reminded of that. A for-profit business shouldn’t necessarily be used for ‘activism’ (no wise person goes out picking legal fights), but a smart business person can certainly adhere to their own principles with ‘just a bit’ of tact.

My point: This practice is nothing new. It’s been a standard business practice for hundreds of years to selectively ‘choose not to serve’ or ‘not do business with’ groups or individuals, likely much longer. I view this debate as a massive decline on a number of fronts, one of them obviously ‘morals’, in part resulting in poor business sense. Another being an exponential increase in general stupidity all-around.

(IOW: Agreed, on both counts)

I’m sure that the African-American community would agree that LGBT people deserve at least the same protections they have under the law.
