How Many People Will Have To Migrate Out Of California When All The Water Disappears?
Zero Hedge ^ | 04/03/2015 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 04/05/2015 12:00:01 AM PDT by MinorityRepublican

The drought in California is getting a lot worse. As you read this, snowpack levels in the Sierra Nevada mountains are the lowest that have ever been recorded. That means that there won’t be much water for California farmers and California cities once again this year. To make up the difference in recent years, water has been pumped out of the ground like crazy. In fact, California has been losing more than 12 million acre-feet of groundwater a year since 2011, and wells all over the state are going dry. Once the groundwater is all gone, what are people going to do?

People don’t realize that if someone has money, it makes sense to live in places where that makes a difference and where there is a lifestyle created for them, of good shopping and recreation, good food, nice scenery, a large service economy designed to serve the upper middle class and the well off, and California will always have the same eternal appeal for those who can afford to live well.

CA tore down a perfectly good nuclear plant that was already constructed, before it could be fired up and produce power. Why would you think they’d allow any more to be built there?

The first ‘moderate’ Texas summer tends to send most of them screaming out of state.

Yup. Its why I pulled the eject handle on CA back in 1995 and left.

Sarcasm aside, the salt has industrial uses. And if enough water is processed, you start getting small amounts of gold and other precious metals - yes, out of seawater.

Actually, I was referring to the whiny White Stalinists that have ruined California.

I was one of the first fisherman on the reservoir. Me and my brother carried a small boat with a 2.5hp motor. We slept overnight at Yarberry boat ramp and accessed off of Antioch Church Road at 5am. There was a 5ft mound to stop cars about 500ft from the shore, the road just continued on under water. This was 1979.

Caught about 20 bass, all 5in long. :^)

It was kinda neat.

I feel the same way.

The rain has been glorious, hasn’t it? Everything is such a vibrant green I just can’t quit looking. :)

I think we are forecasted for more rain this week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I sure wish it would continue thru the summer. But not likely.

After the drought years we just came through I will never complain about the rain again.

I am outdated - no doubt.

I know Fukushima was flooded. The point is, the designers were confident that the plants could survive a major earthquake and something happened outside of their design parameters.

There is a high probability CA will have a major quake within the lifespan of a nuclear facility. Not sure I would want to trust all those engineering decisions to be correct.

Actually, the plant survived the earthquake, as it was designed to do. All nuclear plants are designed to survive beyond the largest earthquakes recorded in their area.

Fukushima was fine. It was the tsunami that was unexpected as everyone forgot about the last one that was (I believe) over 100 years ago.

Given that, all plants, coastal or not, need to have backup power system so if their primary and secondary power fails (for whatever reason) that they can get the circulation pumps back into operation.
