Showing people where the plug is on a solar panel should be helpful.

The article is just a bit misleading.
The plan isn’t to train actual solar technicians, the goal is to create a cadre of community organizers to teach “solar instructors”, whatever the hell that means.
It appears to be a way of funneling money to community colleges and “tech schools” via useless programs for which students will receive government backed tuition loans or grants. The Velvet Jones Community College for Solar Training would provide certificates for attendance in exchange for Obama Bucks, all on the up and up and in accordance with low expectation “course work”.

So the primary beneficiaries will well paid deadwood at the top and the politicians who will use these newly minted government solar experts to set solar industry regulations, assist congress in crafting crony capitalism outlays, set up and control changes to building codes compliance and enforcement.

Re holes in the roof: LOL, but I’ve been thinking along similar lines. It seems to me that the right system is a metal roof with standardized mounting brackets, properly spaced. Have there been frequent complaints of leaking with current installations? It seems they would be very hard to fix.
Some guy came to my door and dropped of info on solar. It said as long as there are no curling shingles, they can install solar panels.
Let’s see, the average roof lasts 20 years, solar cells have a 25 year lifespan, the break even point on solar is usually close to 35 years, oh, and where I live, the solar radiation charts show that on a 1-10 scale (10 best) we are a 4 for UV efficiency.

Nobody mentions that solar cells need to be clean to work at their peak. I’m not going on my roof once a week to wash the windows.
As the communists have always known, it doesn’t work until the last people that remember our heyday are gone. For the time being we are just silenced/ignored.
I work with blacks that for a decade or two had lived middle-class lives, and now they are frustrated/depressed as they are cutting costs like everyone else. The new cars and annual cruises are gone, and they seem to know as much as we do that they won’t be coming back in the foreseeable future. The few that hung Obama pictures when he was elected have long since taken them down...
