Stevie Ray Vaughan had just performed with Eric Clapton
at Alpine Valley Music Theater in East Troy, Wisconsin.
The musicians boarded four helicopters bound for Chicago.
Vaughan, along with three members of Eric Clapton’s entourage
(agent Bobby Brooks, bodyguard Nigel Browne, and tour manager Colin Smythe),
all boarded the third of the four helicopters.
Their helicopter veered to the left and crashed into a hill.
All on board were killed instantly.
Stevie Ray was 36 years old.
