With the Wisconsin men's basketball team about to make its second straight Final Four appearance, national media outlets are looking into all sorts of angles on the team.
On Thursday, USA Today published a story trying to answer this question: "Why is the Badgers' roster predominantly white?"
Reporter Josh Peter interviewed former Badgers players, assistant coaches and UW-Madison officials to get into why Wisconsin is so unlike the other Final Four teams in terms of racial makeup.

Hoping to illustrate its diverse enrollment, the University of Wisconsin at Madison says it doctored a photo on a brochure cover by inserting a Black student in a crowd of White football fans.
“We did it in this one instance, and it really was an error in judgment,” University publications director Al Friedman says.
Rob Seltzer, undergraduate admissions director, says his office spent the summer looking for pictures that would show the school’s diversity — but had no luck.

A couple of soccer world cups back the Italians were doing great, I asked an Italian buddy I had been watching the games with why there were no blacks on the Italian team, he just laughed at me.

Would they play an all gay team ?... It’s rediculous question but so is asking a pizza shop if they’d serve at a gay wedding.

Some seem to think this is funny. I find it disturbing that anything all or mostly white is now considered suspicious, evil, and bad. And people can come right out and say so...while tiptoeing around other races so as not to “offend.” If anything white is suspicious and bad, what do you think life will be like for your white children and grandchildren?
I think it must have something to do with cheese.
Or, put another way, when recruits are evaluated solely on the basis of their value to the basketball team--and NOT on the color of their skin--statistical realities say there WILL BE some predominately white teams, as well as some predominately black teams.
But the racists refuse to see that. They DEMAND that everyone and everything be defined by skin color and racial quotas.
Why isn’t a team with more than 15% blacks unusual?
